As a new listener going back through your eps, I found that the first time Justin says “I’m the person who’s talking right now” in the cast intro is Ep 10, and then other speakers start saying it (and keep saying it) from Ep 11 onwards. I’m curious, why did you start saying this, is it for an accessibility or recording reason?

If you do an episode on the NFL I will be so pumped. I feel Victoria on this - her NASCAR is my NFL. I grew up idolizing my heroes in the sport. Then I discovered CTE, the fact that it's essentially a gladiator sport, the rampant sexism, homophobia, racism, and unchecked greedy capitalist enterprise of it all. The disillusionment was incredibly painful. If you do an episode on this it will be my favorite episode of WTYP yet.

The genius of Earnhardt's driving was his ability to manage the risk of his own vehicle...a loose setup, etc...but his willingness to rub paint and go on the grass if necessary just made other drivers try to keep a cushion around him. My favorite Earnhardt moment happened at Bristol in like 86. He's battled Waltrip for a while, Darrel has to pit and goes to the back of the lead lap. Then Darrel passes the field and manages to get around Dale going into turn 3 on the last lap. Coming out of turn 4 Darrel has the line and is about to leave him behind...so Dale just cuts his wheel hard left and puts them both straight in the wall. Kyle Petty came around and got his first win that day. They put a camera in his face after he got out of the car and he just sorta smirked. It was fucking awesome. I hated that motherfucker so much but not as much as Bill Elliott or Jeff Gordon. The thing about NASCAR and SEC football is that it's not so much about cheering *for* someone as it is coming up with bullshit reasons to hate other folks. That's the southern thing at least. Or maybe it's just my mom's cluster b personality, whatever. Growing up I had every NASCAR race from 87-93 on VHS. My completionist ass porn collection was sorta inspired by my dad's race catalog.
