The Zen Reaction
Thanks for sharing that, one of the strongest moments so far, take care!

Always loved this episode. I think the Uncle Iroh section may have been the first time I ever shed a tear to a story in my life as a kid. He was my favorite character who always made me laugh, and so, seeing him drop his usual charming self in lament of his son was deeply powerful to me. Even the most wise or seemingly joyful individuals have struggle in their lives. Beautiful.

If Nickelodeon would go bold, we could get a Yakuza style game starring Uncle Iroh! I hope you have been doing well Nick, take care!

I've never thought of Iroh as a yakuza protagonist but it makes too much sense now

That was a nice lighthearted (for the most part) interlude in the story.

Mako was Iroh's voice actor. During the making of this show he had cancer, and sadly passed away. All of his lines for Book 2 were recorded, but afterward they had to get a new VA. The portrait of Lu Ten (Iroh's Son) was modeled after what Mako looked like when he was younger. The song he sings, "Leaves From The Vine" is very special to the crew and fans. A direct quote from Greg Baldwin, Iroh's new VA: "I’m often asked to sing “Leaves From The Vine” at Comicons. Out of deep respect for Mako Iwamatsu...it’s one fan request I always decline. It’s Mako’s song...not mine."
