they talked about it awhile ago-- having super long, uninterrupted campaigns have been really taxing esp to murph who had the lions share of work on him for years at a time. so they're doing shorter campaigns, rotating through who DM's-- jake did 5ish months at the helm (once a month we had bonus content) and now caldwell most likely will take us through the end of the year. They're still long, but allows for them to rotate through worlds and characters we love and also give a chance for new exploration and gives everyone a chance to have more work life balance (murph has discussed how they're able to go on vacations and not be locked to a rigorous schedule) which makes me happy < 3

The only real constraints on my usage was just other family members wanting to also use the computer (and/or the phone when dial-up was a thing). It was just me and my sister at our house, but our dad was into computers so we actually always had a computer in our room pre internet, and that didn’t change when internet came out, my dad got a second line for us to be able to be on the internet without blocking the phone line. I spent hours and hours in chat rooms, doing whatever I wanted. At some point each of us had a computer in our rooms. When I was real little I knew dos commands, played with kidpix, Carmen San Diego. Then it was chat rooms with aol, then aim and just chatting my friends, but totally unrestricted. But we also stayed off porn sites and stuff because a. We were like dang you’re a loser if you need porn, and b. We thought you were an idiot if you loaded your computer with viruses. Even when we were downloading discographies from limewire we were hyper vigilant about the files. Idk, I never wrecked my computer and always had access. It was magical hahaha

Interesting to hear Caldwell say he has a thorn for brushing off how the Buds died. Because in Episode 1 he described returning to a campsite covered in blood and bodies, and in Episode 2 he described finding an abandoned campsite covered in debris from a fight, but no trace of his buds. All of this can be chalked up to Boggy repeatedly obfuscating to protect himself from thinking too deeply on a tragic day - but it’ll be interesting to see how Caldwell in-episode begins to canonise the incident in the campsite of the buds. Was it just a brutal, wholesale slaughter with some prisoners later executed, or will the whereabouts of the Buds become a mystery in and of itself?

Welly’s order has huge crusader energy. The Broken Oar fits right in next to Templars and Hospitallers. Both those orders started out guards of holy sites in Jerusalem (a church and a hospital for pilgrims, respectively), and increasingly became influential militant orders caught up in their own mythos and power-playing. Also there’s a lot of fanart online of knightly orders for women inspired by the traditional knightly orders of Europe, while the Sisters of Battle in Warhammer 40K are also just that but grimdark in space. So Welly’s character and background are PERFECT both narratively and for the world Jake is creating.

I don’t see anything about it changing for 2024 edition, it appears to be the same as it’s always been: multiple instances of the same condition do not stack. If they have different conditions then they both apply. Prone is separate from grappled, so they both could affect the same creature. Or for another example, you can be paralyzed by something like “Hold Person,” but that won’t stop something from poisoning you. You can be exhausted, and still get frightened by a fear effect. If you get Blinded, it’s not going to stop you from also being Unconscious if you run out of hit points. Stacking different conditions on an enemy is a good debuff if you are having trouble doing damage. Knock ‘em down prone and grapple them has been a tried and true method of battlefield control for the length of 5e.
