I think what's really working for me is the sort of somber, contemplative atmosphere he's evoking every time he describes the world, it reminds me of something like Shadow of the Colossus or the first Dark Souls where you spend a lot of quiet time just drinking in these tragic but gorgeous settings. As someone who works in game level design it's really hitting a perfect note for me, I'm 100% hooked
