It got kind of glossed over, but I hope somebody from the north - either the Rangers or Mothership - acknowledges Calder's insane, multi-day DC 30 ride across the open tundra. Like, Alexandrite saw them in the puffinfolk village, and knows she's won, because it would be impossible for them to catch up in time. And then they pull some legendary, ancient Greek Marathon stuff and suddenly everything's in play.
