I am the DM for the episode Heather is speaking of. Yes the "genie" was melkor. I had made the mistake of inferring the two different generations of player could co exist, and would work together dive deeper into the lore. However, the choice was made to attack the clearly OP player. So naturally after poking the bear enough he killed them. I fault myself for allowing the toxic cesspool to fester into a murderfest. I wanted to show the players what was possible, but instead my dreams were murderhobo'd. But, we live and we learn. But the players learned an important lesson about Garr Cromwell the Cleric of Bink Bink: There is a direct correlation between the amount you f*** around and the amount you find out. This one shot essentially killed my will to go forward with the multi layer campaign cross over. But also. I believe i taped the entire session incase the players dont recall their actions.

Thank you for absolving me y'all. Dice Christ knows my sins and I have flogged myself daily in repentance. I admitted to my transgression to my DM months ago and when I brought it up again today that I was absolved by y'all he told me that he entirely intended for someone to die that session which immediately made me feel so much worse. I've been playing dnd for 6 years and it is the only time I have ever cheated. Also, for clarification, my DM ruled running up and wrestling him would've had to be two separate actions due to the distance; a dash, and a grapple. I definitely should've bargained something now that you mentioned it because I was a wild magic sorcerer! It could've been such a cool moment to accept a wild magic surge or something as I teleported to my trapped compatriot. I'm so glad Ify took my side in order for that discussion to continue.

He's going about it in a terrible way, but I can imagine some people I deeply love trying very hard not to do the exact same thing. I hope he has a campaign of his own! Hmm... Sibling swear jar makes me think that submitter might be older sibling subconsciously trying to place more control over their younger sibling to retain a dynamic they've had growing up. I had a similar thing with my older brother my entire life and my God I wouldn't want to play with him if he tried to control my language at my game.
