Not an expert, but from experience going from barbarian to bard was awesome for learning spells and how that action economy works. I just aimed for a theme and the spell choices became evident off of that. And I didn't even go college of swords, which is the more martial bard, I went lore, which allowed me to focus more on using spells to avoid combat rather than doing damage. There might be better options for learning how to use spells. Maybe cleric or paladin, but bard felt right to me with a finesse weapon and utility spells.

Just want repeat what others have said, but Jake, I think you’d love playing a barbarian/rogue multiclass!! With reckless attack you get guaranteed sneak attack (unless something gives you disadvantage). Also it allows you to get up in the mix!!

Level eleven rogue makes it so any time you roll a skill you're proficient in, any roll below a ten becomes a ten on the die. What's really cool is it stacks with Jack of all trades so if you take two levels of bard you will never roll below a ten on an ability check. Emily might not like that though because she wouldn't get to roll Nat ones anymore...

Note that the Luck Blade is not a 1/day wish. It also has a number of charges that do not regenerate. So if you spend your wishes they are gone forever.

Jake, my friend! Might I interest you in a Rogue/Barbarian multiclass. It may sound crazy, but hear me out. -Reckless attack means you always have advantage on your attacks, so you have a guaranteed sneak attack. -Rage gives advantage on Str checks, so you're rolling advantage on your expertise Athletics checks. -Danger sense gives advantage on Dex saves, so once you have evasion you're more likely to save for no damage on your Dex saves Your weapon choice is limited to finesse weapons, but a throwing dagger build uses all the power of this multiclass to it's full potential, which is surprisingly high for two such different classes

Just wanted to throw my Luck Blade story out there because they were chatting about it on this episode. First, the Luck Blade only has a limited number of charges, so it's not infinite wishes. I had a villain steal the Luck Blade and used two of the wishes for his evil plots, then the party managed to steal it with one charge left! I was excited to see what they would wish for....but they were too heroic and returned it to the guild that it had originally been stolen from, charge unused!
