If you want to play a Noir story, DnD/Pathfinder are among the worst choices in TTRPGs. You don't want hit points, classes and levels in a grounded realistic story. There are hundreds of better systems for it. Remember kids, TTRPGs are more than just DnD.

It's funny hearing Murph's belief about the pact with cats, because my strongest belief is that humans have an unpayable debt to dogs. Hey just for reference when elephants try and k*ll people they don’t stomp, they try and squish you with their foreheads. They have a pretty good understanding of how heavy they are, and their forehead is flat enough that it’s a good crushing surface!
