Not to Ruin Everything—but the Lambda thing was something spun by a serial huckster who’s pulled a lot of publicity seeking stunts in the past, Blake Lemoine. He’s a member of a cult & was a software engineer at google, not an ethicist like he claimed. When anyone else has interacted w the program (including actual AI experts), they’ve cone away with the conclusion that it’s a standard chatbot: https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/06/11/google-ai-lamda-blake-lemoine/

the blockbuster story lives on in this guy i go to school with who keeps 13+ dvd copies of the movie "click" starring adam sandler in his car, despite having never seen the movie.
