Mixed Bag of Holding: Mortal Kombat 2021

CommodoreBlue

Best outro ever

NoShitSherlock

I often find myself laughing at tangents of short rest that have nothing to do with the episode but to upgrade and have a backlog of mixed bags to end up to this episode and hear you guys actually liked this movie breaks my brain 🤣 imagine if The 3rd Mates were murdered in one round, the movie had beloved characters go out like li'l bitches especially with the cult-like following that Sireena had. As well as the retconning of Scorpion/Sub-Zero rivalry origin and whatever this "Arkana" bs was, this movie was a mess. I pray you guys watch the REALLY old MK stuff like the shows to hear a mixed bag of that.

Gilberto Lopez

Love the opener

CallMeButters

I cannot comprehend how they like when they said "flawless victory"

Mikkel Voigt

You should watch Power Rangers from 2017 for next month

Allie Rosner

This is gonna be a weird rec but for the next mixed bag yall should check out the movie "flight of dragons." It's about a guy who gets sucked into a board game, and the power struggle between magic and science. Good music, silly animation and unintentionally hilarious writing, i think yall would enjoy it!

Reiko

Especially since Tonfas are from Okinawa!

Spam gaming the not so skilled gamer (thanks jake)

Can you make a 20 minute cut of Emily being confused about Star Wars

Jack

It ended up being an ad lol I got an hbo sub after the first 5 minutes of this episode

Keith Spath

Cole was generic but I do kind of like that Cole is just the generic player character from a Mortal Kombat RPG.

Keith Spath

The exact thing I thought of!

Amanda Hellas

the 8 bit book club intro gets me everytime 🥲

Claire After All

I have NEVER identified with someone more than when Emily asked about Boba Fett/Jar Jar Binks. I also get them confused and have never seen Star Wars 😂😂😂

Damodar

As I was watching this movie I was wishing you guys were still doing 8BBC so you could cover it. I’m absolutely THRUMMING!

Keith robinson

I didn't understand how coles family survived being frozen in ice. It would've been better I think if they had died and that caused scorpion to emerge from his blood for family revenge. I still liked the movie though

Andi M. Kraxberger

Vis a vis the R-Rated Marvel comment, this might ease the pain a little: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5-3eujJyZE

Elizabeth Lees

My boyfriend was really hoping that during the Cole/Sub Zero fight at the end that Cole would be possessed and become Scorpion.

Chad Laska

In the new cannon Sonya and Johnny Cage got married, had a kid, got divorced and then I think got married or at least back together in the new game cannon.

Jayson Bailey

The worst thing about Mortal Kombat is that Kano was the best written, and best played part. Stupid good movie, full marks 5/7

Armadon the only

Is Murphy telling us he wanted to see the first x-men in the 1999 film, before any really solid comic book movies came out, wear their original costumes?

Grant Klein

I would rate it as I, for I liked it

Ganonbort

I know in one of the latest games everyone who died is being mind controlled and evil. So everyone could definitely come back

Benwahah

Apperently the actor who played kano improvised some of his lines.

Michael McDougall

Love the 8-Bit Book Club theme, so bittersweet every time they use it at the start of the Mixed Bags because I miss it so much.

Lee Blatchford

Wasn't expecting this feed drop...don't care that this was a huge spoiler episode...it was fun! I want more of these film watching eps, may I suggest hitchhikers guide to the galaxy film, and/or book! Think I would be funny hearing you guys thoughts! Also please MAKE Jake watch more DBZ (buu or cell saga would be funny as!)

Harry B

Murphy ruining the sign off was brilliant.

Rob T

The weapons that Cole uses at the end are Tonfas and they’re cool

Ganonbort

They want violent avengers and captain america doing a Kung Lao. Did they watch FATWS 🤭

Stefan Maroni

I thought it was so cool that scorpion spoke Japanese and Sub-Zero spoke Chinese and at one point scorpion says "I don't understand you but I'm going to kill you...." That was tight.

Sawyer Rogers

Next month if you watch the show on Amazon “Invincible” I’ll subscribe to the next tier, yes this is bribery. Obviously not asking for the whole show that would be crazy, but it would be awesome for the first episode!

Mouse

I didn't see this movie, I don't know anything about MK besides they kill each other, but I will listen to anything the naddpod crew release 😤

Derrick Collins

I’m glad they enjoyed it more than I did. I’m a huge fan of the franchise so I had my issues with it but still a fun movie

Tryston Cole the Loose Obtuse Goose

Not even fucking with you but when Emily tried crossing Boba Fett and JarJar I was in fact driving home on the interstate and I was so shocked I almost rear ended someone. Still love ya Em

Aidan Warlow

FROZEN BLOOD KNIFE

GaviRhino

I think Cadwell's right and Cole will become scorpion 🦂 in the second or third movies cause when they gave him that shirt thing it very specifically starts at his wrist and that's just mean otherwise of they do that

Taylor Schult

That ending. Oh my gods.

Taylor Schult

Liu Kang stole my heart and I have no idea who he is.

AJ

Someone else mentioned this, but you deffo need to watch Corridor Digital's R-rated Avengers video.

If you want a good fan service, watch The Revenge of Scorpion on HBOMax. Also in MK 11, Kung Lao and many others come back as undead versions. They could lean into that for the next one.

Lisquander

Has anyone else made the joke that Cole’s new shirt is just LITERAL PLOT ARMOR

THIS IS INSANE, because of all the MK refrences, I thought it would be amazing with a MK review from naddpod, and here it is

Taylor Schult

Liu Kang was sooooo hot in this movie.

Lisquander

During the subzero/Jax fight, the graffiti in the background was spelling out classic MK COMBOS !!! I screamed.

All Pulp! No Juice!

A to J rating I would give it an “I” for ‘If you love Mortal Kombat you’ll love this, but if you don’t know who Liu Kang maybe this isn’t for you.’

Nathan Poulson

Murph - you literally just want a remake of the first movie lol

Nathan Poulson

Sub zero coming back as hidden character from the earlier games -- NOOB SABOT

Nathan Poulson

They hinted at what Coles powers were doing to be a few times earlier in the movie, with multiple " you sure know how to take a blow" comments

Devin Awe

I love that Scorpion only speaks Japanese and the English phrase "Get Over Here"

R-rated Captain America / MCU can be found on Corridor Crew's YouTube channel and it's incredible.

Elizabeth Lees

I loved him and his sudden but inevitable betrayal. :)

H-Train

had a tough week, so all the dungeon courts plus this 8 bit boo- i mean mixed bag are really helping me get ready for the weekend

Nathan Poulson

Don't dog kano, he was amazing in this movie :P

InsertName

It was awesome

AJ

Y'all are flooding us with CONTENT, and I love it!

Lizzy French

Yesss I needed more 8 bit book club in my life 🥰🥰

Nathan Poulson

2 more for the trilogy about the actual tournament, and then I'm guessing a sub zero/scorpion movie(s)

Theodore Giesen

AND THE 8BBC THEME?!?!

Nathan Poulson

There is plans for 5~ movies

Emily Lalande

Best update to see on a long Friday afternoon! 💕 Can’t wait to hear all your thoughts!

Theodore Giesen

A blessed day to be a patron

Frank

Honestly, it was a great movie for me. Haha
