Post "Mixed Bag of Holding: Winter Solstice One Shot" by "naddpod"

Will

Any chance Emily will release the campaign notes? I’d love to run this one shot myself…

Steven Collins

Third relisten over the years and easily top 3 pieces of content. Definitely my favorite one shot. So glad Emily is doing her 2 part spooky mixed bags right now. She’s got a feel for the genre!

Natalie Kangas

The conversation about a wedding plague doctor mask was irl foreshadowing

Spam gaming the not so skilled gamer (thanks jake)

I just came back to listen to it after the newest mixed bag

Sarah

Listening to this years late but this was one of my fav naddpod ep.s ever. Em, you killed it with the vibe and the music and the scenery you painted and all the characters were super cool. LOVED this episode. Cant wait to see you guys in Madison next week!!

Eric Keller

Please Please PLEEEEEEASE Can we get a new one of these?

Claire and Cal, enjoying a sticky bun by the Crick

Wow this was AMAZING! Would love another ep with these characters (and a new one for Jake?!) Just so so good

Claud Josh

Michael Lawton

Baby polar bear Voltron

Manuel Berringhaus

they didnt to a short rest for this one didnt they? i mean, no offense, its awesome as is but id kill for a short rest with that crew <3

This is so amazing!! I wish Jake could have been apart of it, but still so amazing.

Divergent Hedgehog

This was so good!!! 🎇 This had the vibe that I hoped C2 was going to have more of. I would absolutely love to know more details so I could run this one shot for my family!

What level were the PCs? Is love to run this as a one shot. Such an awesome, dark world

Simon Hughes

perfect day to relisten to this one

Kae

Having trouble relistening. Wonder if it’s app updates

Kimmett

Emily's an amazing voice-actor! I hate her creepy little girl voice.

Alice S

"Very dark to think of a plague doctor mask for weddings, that's extremely dour" If only they knew

TheTimePig

Only just joined the mixed bag tier and this was the greatest gift! Emily, your story weaving, imagination and sheer technical intellect is mind boggling. A cargo ship of post-midday roses.

Evan Cordero

Just upgraded my Patreon to get the mixed bags. This made the extra $5 all worth it

Adah Kinzer

Emily I would love to hear you DM a Call of Cthulhu session. You’re so good at describing creepy stuff

Spam gaming the not so skilled gamer (thanks jake)

It*

Spam gaming the not so skilled gamer (thanks jake)

Grim fantasy is what I have been craving and you have quenched

Matthew Strasiotto

Yeah doesnt caldy usually do the levels? Was an odd one, reminded me of d20 - i often find that Brennan's levels are a bit hard to hear when I'm showering (lmao) especially his "serious" voice But dimension 20 is a video show (i only listen) so its a bit different

Drew Hellenthal

Is this available on dm’s guild? Cuz if not she should totally publish it. Seems like a perfect one shot

Elizabeth Acosta

This is why i love Caldwell, i was just begging someone to make a Bunnicula reference the whole dang time

Futureidk 1

Besides the volume inconsistencies, this game was really awesome. Makes me even more excited for her new campaign

1man2hands

Murph and I said "ya hate to see it" at the same time!

1man2hands

The volume in this was all over the place huh

1man2hands

Great job D-Emily!

1man2hands

The second Brennan started talking I went "Firbolg???"

Tim Sauerland

Wow...Emily created a truly (beautifully) unsettling world. Masterful DMing

Just Some Guy

Late to the game, but man I loved this! Giving it a third re-listen now. Great job Emily!

binta coulibaly

i need more dm emily!! this oneshot was absolutely chef's kiss

binta coulibaly

did emily make the music this episode? everytime i listen to this, i always just absolutely vibe with the music that plays when ulfred suprise-attacks the little girls in the woods so, if she wrote and made that i just wanna give her all the kudos in the world

That was seriously amazing. I loved the music especially.

Lee Mulkins

Fantastic !!!! Did anyone else feel like ulfred might have been inspired voice-wise by the firbolg from taz graduation ? That would be so cute!I

This is what finally convinced me to become a patreoner! Emily ya knocked it outta the park. Super fun and creepy. Would love to hear you do another one!

Sawyer Rogers

Truly amazing

Jeremy Umpleby

D'Emily should do a full campaign. She did great.

Meghan

I'm l o v i n g this. so creepy in the best way

Jennifer

I absolutely adore Emily horrifying everybody with creepy stuff. I wanna see more DM Emily! This whole game was so atmospheric and funny and beautiful and weirdly touching. And the PCs were hilarious.

I have been hoping Emily would DM at some point and this has exceeded all my expectations. It's so inspiring to listen to an awesome female DM. Hope to hear more in the future!

Darius

Well done, Emily! I love the amazing quality that you produced! And of course the music was amazing.

Frankenjam

Update - I bought noise cancelling headphones to listen to this episode so now I can say yay so good and be like everyone else. That is all. Thank you.

StrakerV

MOAR DMILY!

PaulMcGranite

Love this episode! The characters were hilarious and Emily killed it as DM. Also particularly enjoyed the music in this one!

kiana

Can Emily just have a bonus game for campaign 2?? Like her own trinyvale? I just- I need to see more d’emily!

alyssa

Emily, you did an amazing job! Thank you for this one shot, it’s truly a gem.

Conradicat

Emily makes a great Dungeon Mommy

Walter Lajara

Really hope we get a short rest for this one!

Emily

I’m dying at the end like 😂😂😂😂 such an amazing job Emily!! I hope to be as good as DM as you. I’m gonna be relistening this again. All those subtle hints you gave were perfect!!!

Daniel Green

This was an amazing episode! Emily, you did a great job DMing and guiding the story! I hate that Jake couldn't join in, but having Siobhan Thompson and Brennan Lee Mulligan in there was incredible! On that note, does anyone know how Brennan's character was able to use Rage and Heavy Armor Master at the same time? Sounded like such an interesting build 😁

Cecilia Wilson

I loved this!! I really hope Emily wants to do more DMing, loved her style.

I LOVED this thank you SO MUCH! Please do more Emily 🥰

Lisa Hilton

This wad freaking awesome, loved Emily style, and was great to hear Brennan play a PC again. 100% agree wish this had a short rest....as would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this one shot and peak behind Emily's screen

Ian Capper

D’Emily is next dang level. Please let me borrow some of your DM spores for my next session 🍄

Olivia M

Emily how dare you put yourself down!!! You did so well!!!!

Ben Delahay

Very good, I’d like more.

Cameron McEwan

I wish this had a short rest. I would love to hear everyone’s opinions on how it went and definitely need to hear about the peak behind the D-Emily’s screen!

Parker Reincke

Also had no issue with it being “quieter”, thought it ONLY added to the hauntingly chilling atmosphere and did I mention this was THE BEST THING

Parker Reincke

THIS IS THE BEST THING

Andrew Teoh

I loved this ep! D’Emily’s creepy children voices were dope. I wish we got to see what that brain was going to do.

Emily is a great DM <3

This was so good! The scene descriptions were so vivid, and the music just augmented the spooky vibe. Really hope for more content from Emily as a DM

Gearoid Cotter

This was brilliant! Loved every minute! Please make this a recurring mixed bag!!

Sarah Trimble-Tutor

I have a huge girl crush on Emily Axford, overlord of Bunnicula.

Daniel Stewart

Pls pls pls do more of these d'emily! I loved this spooky vibe!

Courtney Harris

That was sooooo good! I loved the story, it sucked me in and I couldn't escape for 2 hours. 😍

I absolutely loved everything about this! Emily absolutely killed it!!! I need more of this party and D'Mily!!!!

Wyatt

Emily you have outdone yourself with the music on this episode

bibibirdy

This was amazing Emily! It really gave me Chuck Palahniuk vibes, especially when describing the old artist town. As always, everyone was so fun and entertaining. I’m just glad we finally get to hear Emily on the DM side and Brennan playing in her space.

My god, this should be a regular thing!

Joe Somerville

I have been wondering if we'll ever see Emily DM, as she always seemed like she'd be great at it. And she surpassed every expectation! I hope we can see a DM-ily campaign akin to Trinyvale in the future!

Leth

I’ve been dying for D’Mily and oh man was it worth the wait! The feel of this world, the characters, all of it. Primo. I hope there’s more to come!

Rob Hawkey

This was AMAZING! Did anybody else get Darkest Dungeon vibes?

Brian Jones

The fact there are over 125 comments supporting D'Emily is amazing. But it shows the quality of a truly magnificent horror genre D&D game. Coming off the dragon talk interview, I was so happy to see this in my feed! It surpassed all expectations and blew my mind. Em, you handled the shenanigans so well! Brennan was optimizing as best he could and you kept him in line beautifully. After the opening salvo in the final battle, you quickly leveled the palying field with the beams! As a newer dm, I can say combat balance is a tough one. But keep throwing these horror one shots at us! And if it is possible, I'd love to use this horror setting as a side quest in my home campaign! Such a different vibe to throw at my players! Lastly, I'm expecting Caldwell to make his next Terran's Journal be the Tall Squad!

Frankenjam

Does anyone else find this episode impossible to listen to because of the volume? Ive my volume at max on my headphones and phone and the sound boosted by my podcast app but I can't hear a fucking thing on my commute. Gonna have to leave this one till the weekend I guess :(

Jonathan Turner

Great job Emily. Awesome show.

Katherine Clarke

Loved it! Great job as a first time DM, Emily! And definitely loved this collection of characters!

Oh my gosh. More of this group please! I couldn’t stop laughing

Patrick C McAuliffe

Wow, DMily absolutely nailed it.

sannajoph

Wow ok I loved that!! Loved the setting and creepy vibe stellar first job! Hope to see more had such a blast listening !

I got such a vibe to a Norwegian horror story from this campaign, and the fact that the town "Poesi" which is the town of poetry and artistry means poetry in Norwegian. This is one of my favorite episodes ever, amazing roleplaying by everyone and excellent dm'ing by Emily

Please can we get more?

LINK8659

I am dying to know what the challenges in the other rooms would have been, the glimpses as they were leaving were great! Such a fantastic one shot!!!!

Jeffrey Steck, Lord of the Fjord

Thank you!

Michael McDougall

This was absolutely amazing. I finally got around to listening to it and it may have overtaken The Watchman as my favorite thing to come out of this podcast. D'Emily, please dm again, you were so good at world building and your NPCs all felt so real, especially the vampiric bunny. Is there any way to do a short rest for this be February's Mixed Bag?

Elysium Ervin

Emily, you did amazing! Please DM more, your style is so much fun! The chaos you bring as a player is also perfect for DMing!

Super fun episode! And I hope you release the music from this episode because it was so good too!

BlurryVizion

Great job Emily!!! Very spooky!!!

Julio Fuentes

that was so amazing

Caoimhe

Emily did so wonderfully! That was so fun to listen to, and so fun to also have Siobhan and Brennan playing!

Not Another D&D Podcast

Someone asked about this on twitter, so I made a soundcloud for the music. Thanks again for listening!! https://soundcloud.com/naddpod/sets/mixed-bag-ost-solstice/s-D8bCu

hahaha me too! definitely worth it :D

I upped my tier so I could listen to this! Can’t wait to listen to Emily DM!

Can naddpod please "hire" Brennan so I can always have him in my life

Dave Johnson

On a side note: any way Murph and Emily can just lock up Brennan and Siobhan so we have them for every episode? Obviously they'll be taken care of, look how nurturing Murph and Em are of the neighborhood critters.

Don Cheadle Jr.

I, Don Cheadle's son, believe this is the best mixed bag of all time

Tyreesh Simmons

This was so good! I need more Direct Messenger Emily, this whole one shot was extremely my vibe lol.

Jenny T

D'Emily is giving me the confidence to try DMing for my new group of friends that have never played. Amazing job!!! SO PROUD OF YOU!!!

Love Emily our awesome dungeon mommy!!

Brad Copland

I loved this ep, I just wish the audio was fixed, I can't listen to it at high enough volumes to hear without every laugh peaking my speakers lol. But I am all for Emily dming again. Dmily for second side campaign after trinyvale!

Dave Johnson

This was so good all around.

Matthew Steinmetz

Emily went all out on the atmosphere and music on this and even WITHOUT IT it would be on par if not better than Murph's atmosphere building. You did such a great job, Emily!

Garga Lenoir

Hey Emily I just listened to that dragon podcast (ton of fun) and it kind of makes me sad that you can think for a second that you did a bad job. Your heavy storytelling/atmospheric/dark fairytale style worked wonderfully, this was an amazing game and story to listen to. It kind of felt like hearing a Witcher short story. About all the stuff you prepared and wasn't used, just keep it for later! Re-purpose it! It's never wasted. I'm sure I, internet rando n°4846894, isn't saying anything that the actual people in your life already told you, but we're not saying it to be nice, we're saying it because it's true. Accept that you've done great and please be proud of it, knowing that you can do even better.

Josnak

I can only imagine how daunting it must be to try something new with such a big audience. So glad you are getting the shower of love that you deserve!

Aristarkh Tikhonov

Absolutely loved the setting and the characters!

Matthew Forrest

Loving DMily's DNergy.

spooky is my favorite emotion ~Emily

Not Another D&D Podcast

I love Shiloh, grave domain cleric is cool as hell. ~Emily

Not Another D&D Podcast

I am sorry this was also my first time editing and Murph was out of town so I was flying solo on exporting and finalizing audio! ~Emily

Anyone else think the volume on this ep was really low? Had my volume near max and still had a hard time hearing. I still loved every moment of it.

Not Another D&D Podcast

Having a text thread with four different people who are creating amazing characters was... perhaps one of my favorite parts of the whole process? So cool to watch people slowly piece together dope characters.

Not Another D&D Podcast

Yes!!! That's precisely what I was going for!!

Not Another D&D Podcast

Thank you!!! I am drinking in the love and support like liquid courage to try again. Also, I kinda owe Jake one now. ~Emily

Not Another D&D Podcast

Honestly speechless to see my name amongst such legends ~Moonshine/Emily/D'Emily(!!!)

Not Another D&D Podcast

Thank you!!! I had the most wonderful, gentle, funny, supportive pc's.

Not Another D&D Podcast

thank you!!!!

Adam Gomez

Can you believe Emily created the concept of DMing?

Jamie Advincula

this is so good!! would love to hear emily dm-ing more in the future if that’s something she’s interested in

3 point bear stance, perfect form tackles. love it

a few weeks ago I actually made a grave domain cleric that is uncannily similar to Shiloh, right down to being freakishly tall and skinny, as well as being just overall weird as hell. Anyway, Emily did a great job, especially with the tone and environment!

Jacob Bowen

Incredible! I laughed so much throughout but also the creepy bits were so genuinely scary. Made my week.

Sabrina Murray

Loved everything about it .... (Except the lack of Jake) Emily did great and it's been awesome having old favorites back on! Would love to see Nathan back too!!

Grant Bradshaw

Oh my gosh, this was amazing! I felt immersed immediately in the world, I love the teasing around the character's backgrounds, and the background of Poessy was so cool. I hope you do another episode of this sometime, would love to hear more :D

Cely Torres

I live for the spooky vibes and Emily’s descriptions were *chef’s kiss*

Josnak

DMily is very good

Turner Tush

#DMilyforcampaing2

Tom Edgerton

Ahhh amazing so much atmosphere I loved it!!!

Canid

Emily did do awesome. Her DM style is similar to Deborah Ann Woll of relics and rarities.

Jeffrey Steck, Lord of the Fjord

The narrative is perfection! Great job Emily!

ananarama

That was so good!

Omg I was genuinely surprised by how good this was. All the characters were so interesting and the world had so much character I was totally hooked the entire time. Emily did a truly amazing job, Murph better watch he doesn't get replaced lol.

Yura

Emilyy your descriptions and settings are sooo immersive! Combined that with the creepy music, it sure got me so invested already! All the characters are so uniquely made too Kalashtar Cleric, Aasimar Monk and ofc Brennan's multiclass and Caldwell's UA. Gosh this is such a gift, can't wait for more D'Emily!

James Marshall

It hasn't even been out for a full day and I've listened to it four times. Soooooo funny, and the imagery Emily described was so creepy I love it!

This was so amazing! It felt like a mix of rural horror and over the garden wall.

Josnak

Emily, that was amazing!! I really hope you'll come back to this one day! The super edgy characters were awesome too! Emily calling Siobhan "Girl" made her sound very sassy, I loved it. :D

Kellie Cthulhu

Only Emily could have a spooky but somehow adorable game

Please keep this going!!

Ashley E Steiner

Delightfully creepy! Awesome DMing, Em!

Ellen BK

I think Emily said on Dragon Talk that they were all level 7

Jack

Any idea what levels they were at?

Michael Lovell

I really hope this turns into a bonus campaign with Brennan and Siobhan (and Jake when he's done in atlanta) cause this was aces

Michael Lovell

I think he took 1 level of fighter to get heavy armor proficiency, 1 level of barbarian to get rage, and then 5 of druid because he cast conjure animals, which is 3rd level spell acquired at level 5

Mich Blackie

Emily, this was amazing. You should be super proud of yourself. I know you’d been thinking about doing a dark Slavic type setting for a while and it was perfection. I hope we get to see a whole lot more of this ❤️❤️❤️

Miles W

As someone who really doesn’t like spooky shit, this was still amazing

Alex aka Zol Ark

Emily!!!!! This was sooooooooo goo- nay this was fucking great!!!! Pls DM again!!!!

Tig

Sooo good, bet Jake is going to be jealous as. I'd love for even a roses and thorns for this, maybe just a bonus at the end of next mixed bag

Truly awesome

Evan O'Neal

Oh my god EMILY SO GOOD!!! This was the best surprise I’ve gotten from my patreon and it’s been so surprisingly good so far. Emily’s DM chops are insane, Murph must be so proud

This was magical! More please Emily!

Ryan Coogan

This is exactly what I’ve always wanted and I was so unprepared when it came up in my feed. Emily is so good at so many things.

This was awesome. Emily please do more like this!

Mich Blackie

100%!! Brennan is such a fan boy! 😂❤️

Michael K Merkle

Right the second that the second attack did not kill the little girl he was immediately vindicated for his choice

Michael K Merkle

That was sooooo great. I can't wait to see what mama Emily comes up with next. I loved the world you came up with and Brendon atk the little girl with no hesitation was funny as hell. Keep up the ideas and can't wait for your next adventure

I think it's not too early to suggest that y'all have to make a campaign and then a Sourcebook from this setting, and then obviously the companion album after that. So damn good!

Hrishi Venkatesh

So good

Cameron S

Only complaint is that we dont get to hear more of this creepy world and those awesome characters. Is there any chance you might post those poems or the character information, i think brennan maybe pulled some more multiclass bs character shenanigans.

Taylor Schult

Daddy Murphy, Duncle, and D'Emily

Taylor Schult

Henceforth known as D'Emily

Amy Birch

This was amazing! Just what I needed to make me laugh 😂 when stuck in bed with the flu 🤒

Robert Mukwaodayin

EMILY! HOOOOOLY SHIT THIS WAS AMAZING!!!!!!! My only regret is Jake wasn’t available to be a part of this! Perfect scene setting and character agency! I cannot wait for another!

Justin Harris

👁Grant us eyes Emily👁

Zaq Williams

Holy crap. I didn't realize that this was exactly what I needed today.

Fyredraeke

Shout-out to Brennan- It’s always a pleasure to see you come out from behind the screen to play!!

Liz Ruifrok

MOAR PLS

Will Day

Emily! Emily! Emily!

GREYFOX!!!!!

Hell yeah Emily for the win

Andres Romero

DUDE, that introduction into the world was soooooooo goooooodd.

Micah Edmonds

Started crying as soon as Emily began her descriptions. I've been dying to hear her DM for so long. Thank you so much for this, Emily, I think at this point you've reduced me to tears of purity and joy more times than anyone else alive.
