True Polymorph's wording is actually quite explicit. If the caster successfully maintains concentration for the full hour, the transformation is completely permanent. That's why it's "True" Polymorph

True Polymorph's vague wording suggests that creature to object could be permanent if it wasnt removed after 1 hour. So there could be a timeline where Hardwon is just a boot they all share in memory of him.

I'm so thankful for a Stevie update I was thinking about her more than I care to admit haha - also to the core 4 I would check out this woman named Hannah Shaw (aka Kitten Lady). She's a kitten/cat advocate and educator and she does a lot of videos on how to care for neonatal kittens and how to care for a pregnant community (aka feral) cat in your neighborhood! I also think she might be located in the same area as you guys, so she may even put out advice about good shelters/vets you can go to!
