I've tried working with oils like a thousand different times, and they just absolutely drive me nuts. Happy for folks who enjoy them, but god they're so messy, and they take fifty years to dry, and I simply can't. I can get all the effects I want with acrylics, and they're water soluble and dry quickly. Again, total respect for anyone who can make use of them, but I'm acrylics4lyfe

listening to these short rests is EXCELLENT! i have so many thoughts and questions that I just *need* solace on and it's great to pop over to patreon and be immediately sated. I was SO mad at hardwon for turning rust against them mid-battle, but when the alternative plots for rust surviving were talked about in the short rest and it was clear that teaming up with him would have been more metagaming than roleplay? felt so much better - i just love the "peaks behind the screen" i get here :)

Ha! I thought they said this fight would have been impossible to win since Akarot by himself is challenge rating 17, so adding the dragon (without him focusing his actions on movement) and the pale prince would have made that fight unwinnable. Thus why I thought maybe Daddy Murphy would have found another way to have the mountain fall apart. Thanks for the reply! :)

They did discuss it briefly; they would have had to fight the dragon, the pale prince, and akarot on the top of the mountain rather than just the dragon and the prince. Also they would have been more vulnerable to breath attacks by said dragon. It's okay I miss stuff too sometimes haha.

Awesome episode!! Keep bringing that amazing content weekly, loving every part of it! Quick question tho (just posted it on the subreddit, but maybe someone here could answer, maybe even the almighty Daddy Murphy himself. I was hoping you guys would discuss this question in the Short Rest, but I don't think you did (or I might have missed it, I was listening to the SR in the middle of the night while soothing my newborn boy!). ***What if Willhelm had died during their ascent*** (e.g. when Moonshine was repeatedly using infestation on him, which was hilarious btw)? He would never have been able to use his 8th level Earthquake which then led to the insane descent... Would they have had to fight a losing battle up top the mountain or did Daddy Murphy have another ace up his sleeve to make sure the mountain crumbled anyways? Cheers!

Great episode! I love that you guys started doing rose and thorn in your short rest, but the advantage of it over highs and lows is that you can also do bud! (as in “rose, bud, and thorn”). Bud is something you’re looking forward to next episode, so for example “can’t wait to slowly behead every member of the chosen” or “I am so looking forward to taking Acarot’s head and carrying it around oppa-Gallad style.” It could add a fun new wrinkle to it!

Any chance we can get what Akarot is? I think you said he’s CR 17 and I could not find a fiend that matched in my DnD research (I.e. DND Beyond). I would guess he’s also homebrewed a little (or totally) at least to have Kylo Ren’s voice

Three, why the heck haven't you guys repaired the dang airship? You have a ton of gold from Smugglers Bounty, and for half of this arc the airship was sitting in a literal city of artisans and builders. All I want is to see Hardwon wearing his captains hat, hoisting a banner of the Stormborn crest to the top of the mast, commanding his crew of Dwarf-ans into battle.
