My brother graduated from Notre Dame last year. I visted him a few times and it was super fun. No, most of them aren't super catholic nerds, a lot of people go because of legacy and stuff like that. Parties were still super fun. Their dorms are basically like their frats, so the whole dorm will get together and do events and stuff. My brother had a gf last year that would just go to the bathroom at curfew and they wouldnt know she was there, not too hard to get around it. Also yes, the town is boring and it's in the middle of fucking nowhere

Current Notre Dame student and podcast listener here! School is a mixed bag with religious and non religious, but there are definitely more strict Catholics than you’d find at different universities. There are also a lot of non-practicing Catholics who attend because of the legacy connections. The curfew for dorms is called parietals, and you can’t be in the opposite genders dorm past midnight on weekdays and 2am on weekends which is fairly substantial considering you have to live on campus for 3/4 years. They get broken all the time though including by our RA’s it’s not really enforced unless you’re super obvious. Also all the students know the university has strict rules for guests with pg-13 but please break them I’m begging you 😭
