I know I'm so late but this covid vaccine is ground breaking. Entirely new kind. And vaccines..normally just literally can't get you sick! I know people use literally too often, but the 'bad' part has been taken out, its not in the vaccine, just enough of the 'outside' to trigger your immune system to recognise it, (your own immune system is working which is why you might feel a bit seedy). But if you then get the flu, your body recognises the flu instantly and attacks straight away, its stats are already on file and it knows how to fuck it up ASAP, not messing around for days on how to attack it, it already got a little taste.

To add onto the vaccine clarifications here, the reason you might feel sick after the vaccine is due to an immune response to the proteins within the vaccine, NOT the virus. Basically, we trick your body into thinking its fighting an infection. Think of a it like a training session for your immune system - it's fighting against the enemy for the first time, but the enemy isn't able to do any damage. That way, should you ever receive the infection later on, your body is familiar with the infection and can fight it much more effectively!

the vaccine actually sends a form of messenger dna to your genes and tells it how to code anti bodies to fight it. so you don’t get any of the virus but you get the antibodies code and it will be stored by your body, that is what i have read

Pharm student here. Both Pfizer and Moderna are using an mRNA based vaccine which doesn’t utilize a denatured virus to stimulate the immune system. The mRNA will act as a code to trigger your cells to start producing a spike glycoprotein similar to that on the actual SARS-CoV-2 virus. Once the protein is made, the immune system will recognize it as foreign and mount an immune response to the glycoprotein. The glycoprotein will trigger the same immune response as SARS-CoV-2, except there is not actually a virus to attack, just the glycoprotein that your body made from the mRNA code. Your body will produce the antibodies needed to fight off the virus if you contract COVID-19 later, which is the basis of the vaccines immunity. Also Cody, the flu shot contains a denatured form of influenza, so it is scientifically impossible to contract the diseases from the shot- which is true for all vaccines that contain a denatured virus.
