If your face would have been near the necklace when it exploded then thats the only scenario I see where you almost die there. If you were to grab the necklace while it was "plugged into" the outlet in the brief seconds when it was heating up before it exploded you would definitely have burned yourself then add on damage from a necklace exploding acting as a grenade next to your hand. Volts aren’t what kills you but current (amps) does. There would have to be an underlying condition for someone to die from getting shocked by an electrical outlet which is generally 120v and does not carry a lot of current.
