Introduction

As my first post here on Patreon, I'd like to say thank you so much for being here and I am going to do my very best to make this a fun and interesting place to be.I'm going to be posting a variety of content this week to give you an idea of the type of posts patrons will have access to. After that, I will continue trialing a few things to see what content packs the most punch with you guys. Please help me out by letting me know what you want to see here! Balance is key when juggling multiple types of work, so I want to prioritize the best content to spend time creating.
So who is Crabby and what the heck am I doing here?
I haven't shared a lot about myself on the internet and I've kept my social media as mostly about my work. From time to time I will step out of my hermit shell to let patrons know a little more about me personally, but my name is Sam.
I am an e-learning specialist by day but what I really want to be doing is creating games and pixel art full time. I'm hoping Patreon will help me reach this goal! Currently I am the director and lead artist of a game under development called Villain Survival Guide. I started off solo with learning Gamemaker Studio 2 and building the game myself, but now I get to focus on the art side as my significant other, Scott, is now in charge of programming. He's gotten up to speed with what I've built so far and has been making great progress!
Once a month I will be posting game status updates to my patron-only feed, detailing what went into the game since the last update and sharing screen captures or videos. We are hoping to have a demo finished within the next month or so, and I'll be sharing that to patrons a week before anyone else so I can get your valuable feedback before releasing to the rest of the world.
On that note - if you would like to influence the game in more ways than just playtesting, I'm also offering to certain tiers the reward of having your original character made into an NPC in Villain Survival Guide! Or there is also the reward of having a small easter egg item of your choosing added somewhere in the game. These rewards will take a little longer to deliver on but as they are developed you will be given the sprites created as well as a screen capture of your item/character as it is implemented in the game.
So how will this work? NPCs will be the townspeople in Villain Survival Guide, unless otherwise stated or agreed on. I will be sharing a town map in a future post explaining the different areas and NPC roles that will need to be filled, so patrons that sign up early will get first pick! As for easter eggs, this will depend more on what you want and where it will fit into the game. Either way, I will reach out to you to talk details!
There is a lot more to tell you about, so I'll be posting examples and explanations every day this week!
