I firmly believe most product names are bad, and the most successful things “overcome” their name. Joycon is such a good example: slightly weird name but it’s such a good input device that it completely overcomes the goofy name.

I'm not planning to get one myself, I'm happy with my Steam Deck and haven't bought anything Nintendo in some time, but people really seem to be enjoying the Switch 2 and I'm glad for them.

I had always thought the "joy" in joy-con was short for "joystick", but that actually makes less sense. Joystick connector? I've noticed that people have started referring to similar devices not from Nintendo as "joy-con", which is pretty great. This is just going to be a normal word in gaming.

Anyone else’s switch 1 pro controller a huge pain in the ass to connect to the switch 2? It seems that every time I put my console in sleep mode it removes the pairing. It won’t be able to turn the console on and I have to go in and hold the stupid little pairing button for like thirty seconds to get it to even register

#1 I have been saying "Joy-Con" for 8 years now and this comment is the first time I am noticing either how odd a thing it is for an adult to say or that I don't know what the hell it means either. I feel like you've just shown me the matrix. #5 My brain had rewritten history to think that SMO was a launch title along with BOTW. Huh. We are all probably rewriting history when we remember past console launches as being better than recent ones (or the past as being better than the present more generally).
