Said I was dropping a Patreon Exclusive Track this week, here we go!
This is Rise. Lemme tell you the story of this track...
I started this tune alllll the way back in December of 2020. Literally during the Pandemic. I specifically remeber playing it out at some Pandemic friendly shows. HOWEVER, it was not this version. The original version of Rise sounded almost identical to this, just way way WAY worse in quality. The mix was dull, the drums were weak and without swing, I just wasn't as seasoned of a producer.
I signed with Vicious Recordings in 2022. I'd sent them a folder of unreleased demos during that time. Among them was some remixes, some crappy originals, a very early and unrecognizable version of "It's Proppa", and the original cut of Rise. Vicious chose Rise out of all of them to be my first release. The only problem is, of ALL of my demos, THAT one was the only project that was corrupted ๐. It came from an old computer with dozens of untraceable samples and presets. The 2 things I was able to grab from the orignal project were the Lead Preset/Melody, and the Bass Preset/melody.
I took the next 3-4 days to reproduce the entire nearly 2 year old track from scratch using my more refined production skills. It came out 100000x better than the original. Vicious LOVED it, but then we hit the next roadblock. Tracking down and then clearing the original Pastor sample on the record. We spent a few weeks on that, it proved to be impossible, I couldn't replace the vocals, and it sat on a shelf to collect dust since then.
Mind you, this is a "demo master", I once again cannot access the project for this song. However, it's definitely a complete song with no glitches, mistakes, or hiccups, and it's fully mastered. Is it up to today's Proppa standards of a big release? Questionable. Does it get played in nearly every one of my sets and rip on the dance floor every time? Absolutely. Lol.
I've been playing this out for 2 years and I'm literally always asked about it after shows. At the risk of it never seeing the light of day, i'm giving it to ya'll <3. Hope the pastor on this tune blesses your sets as he has with mine, loll.
