I love Damon character i really do but no amount of effort can excuse what he did to Jeremy im sorry. Tendencyās and heat in the moment donāt matter, this was elena brother and he didnāt know if he had the ring on or not! I get Mairās point about Damon and Elena, howeverrrrr lol I donāt feel bad for Damon. When you do truly unforgivable things, like killing someoneās brother, you canāt expect immediate grace. Elena doesnāt owe him forgiveness just because he apologized. That's like saying after someone physically abuses you but then apologizes after that you should give them grace cause atleast he apologized lol but they still abused you. So if you in that moment, don't want to forgive him, then you have every right to until he proves to you that he actually won't do it again. If Damon really wants to be a better person, he should accept that trust takes time and keep being genuine without expecting a specific outcome in return.

Thank you Mair for understanding both side in regards to Damon and Elena and I also love that you called what Damon did a MISTAKE because most people donāt know this truth about Damon that Heās suffering from CPTSD and I canāt get to the reasons why he has this condition because that would be spoilers but basically if someone with this condition get deeply hurt, that would open the gate to all the pain and suffering of their past traumas. They would have emotional flashbacks of those incidents like theyāre happening all over again which makes it really hard for them to regulate their emotions in the moment and they might unintentionally hurt people around them. Damon CPTSD triggers intentionally got provoked and teased by Katherineās emotional and metal manipulation and Elena unknowingly repeating the exact same thing as what Katherine said pushed Damon over the age and made him lose his touch with reality for a second there and he did what he did. He genuinely had little to no control over his emotions and ultimately over the action he took in response to deal with those overwhelming emotions that he was feeling at the moment so yes he made a huge MISTAKE but it was an inevitable mistake, anybody else in his position( having CPTSD attacks) wouldāve done the same if not worse. TVD doesnāt sugarcoat trauma and show you the ugly but real consequences of going through trauma and the lasting effect it could leave on your psyche and brain.

This show requires a ton of suspension of disbelief. A ton. For all the characters. Damon killing Jeremy is unforgivable in my book, from Elena's perspective. It's softened a bit by context (an obvious trauma response that's not about Elena/has nothing to do with her, inebriated, humanity switch being loosey-goosey that Damon depresses down out of convenience and has at this point barely allowed on), but not enough to be forgiven. But Stefan has racked up two unforgivable decisions/actions too, from Elena's perspective in my opinion: First, learning that your relationship is built on lies that your partner withheld (and apparently never planned to admit to) past the stage where you're intimate with him - learning that every moment you've shared is tainted by the fact that they weren't organic and he already knew everything about you after months of stalking you. Absolutely horrific. And second, Stefan commiting domestic violence against Elena when he's dealing with his issues after Miss Mystic. These two examples aren't softened by context. His humanity is fully on for both. In the first example, he's very calculating and manipulative (Damon's issues with impulsivity are better compared to this). He gets a little leniency with his blood addiction problem for the second example, but not much. Both are unforgivable. A major difference is, Damon holds himself accountable (from the beginning, tho it takes him a minute to own it with others), he's held accountable by other characters in the show, and the audience (to exhaustion), whereas Stefan escapes all accountability. It gets swept under the rug for him. He never acknowledges those things, never owns them, and the show and audience never hold him accountable or acknowledge them either. Elena shouldn't be spending time on either of these men if we want to be real about it lol

That being said.. as Captain of Team Stefan š there are plenty of murderers in prison who would justify their actions by saying "I was upset". That's like if you rejected someone who asked you out and then they went outside and murdered your brother cause they were "upset". Mind you, the brother wasn't even involved. Ain't nobody coming out to be like "Oh well he was mad and yeah that sucks to get rejected.." ??? WHAT lmao. No but I do have a soft spot for Damon's good side as well, deeply flawed as he is. I don't truly hate any of these characters.

One thing I find really interesting about Damon and Elena interaction in the last scene is that when Damon said: āyou and Katherine have a lot more in common than just your looksā, he was not trying to insult Elena or tried to hurt Elena because she hurt him in this episode, actually there is a deeper intention. Elena just like anybody else have her flaws and dark side but we can see every one else in this show Stefan included sees Elena as this little innocent girl who can do no wrong but Damon is the only person who can see Elena as a whole. He can see her good qualities along with her flaws and loving her with all of that. In this episode he witnesses how manipulative Elena can get, first she used Stefan to make Damon jealous and then the way she manipulated him during the trip by giving him just a little bit of hope that thereās still possibility for them to become friends again and it was all to get Damon vulnerable enough to give up the information he knew about Katherine. Damon knew how much Elena didnāt like to be like Katherine so here Damon was pointing out Elenaās manipulation skills to her as a type of warning so she could become more aware of them. Sheās challenging Elena to face herself and her flaws because yes, he might deserve what Elena did to him, but it still doesnāt make what Elena did ok or make her a better person because this is exactly what Katherine does, manipulating people to get what she wanted out of them and using them for her advantage and if Elena really doesnāt want to be like her, she should be more aware of her dark side and what she could do with it because sheās better than this and sheās a good person. As you can see Elena didnāt look like she was offended by Damonās comment, she looked more confused and shocked. She didnāt expect to hear this from Damon because all she heard from Stefan was how much sheās not like Katherine and she is the opposite of every thing she was so hearing she also have similarities with her from Damon was shocking and up until that moment she was not completely aware of what exactly she did there and how similar that makes her to Katherine, so Elena took it more like a lesson from Damon rather than insult.

Not necessarily true. Because werewolves are at their peak strength during a full moon, it would be easy for vampires to find packs and kill them off when they aren't transformed. But if it was a full moon, and a werewolf versus vampire one on one, the werewolf has the advantage. Plus it literally just takes one bite to kill a vampire.

The problem is that if Damon had known that Elena 100% would never forgive him, then heād 100% not help her. ATP, he is not someone that does anything out of the goodness of his heart. He is far from altruistic, heās gotta be emotionally invested. And Elena doesnāt trust that he would help her, if he knew that she wasnāt forgiving him. And him being alone & not having anyone to talk to? The Twilight werewolves were actually huge and scary, or even the vampires in Wednesday had the humanoid form, but I get it's CW and their budget isn't that large. Although I will say that they did a good job with the transformation part, that actually looks really painful.

Very much appreciate the seeing both sides conversations. As many character histories and motivations have yet to become clear - it is helpful to hold space to see motivations/intentions even in very flawed characters. From some things you may know now - Elena has lost her parents, most hope for relationship with her birth parents, and she has seen Damon/Stefan kill friends (both responsible for Vicki plus Damon for Lexi). Those moments of losing her brother - even if temporary - will be deep in her core. Damon is impulsive - we have seen his father, his obsession (Katherine) and the person who first saw humanity in him (Elena) all reject him and choose his brother. Both are flawed (Damon MUCH more so) and both have raw emotions.

The actors that play Stefan and Elena didnāt get along at the very start of season 1, but they quickly became friends and are still friends to this day. In fact, I donāt think thereās any beef between any of the cast members apart from some awkwardness between the actors that play Elena and Damon.

Regardless of Jeremy surviving, he straight up killed her brother. Hereās my thing with Bonnie, she also played a part in her grandmothers death. Shes the one who forced Grams to take down the tomb when grams had told her she wasnāt strong enough to do it. Yes Stefan and Damon played a huge part into it but so did she. Also sheās the main reason Carolineās a vampire, had she de-spelled the Gilbert device like she was supposed to then Caroline wouldāve never been involved in that accident, Tyler wouldāve never lost control and his dad wouldnāt have died, Anna wouldnāt have died. So itās like I can understand her dislike towards Stefan and Damon but girl Caroline has done nothing to youā¦when she literally woke up a day after being killed and was so confused. And in stead of her being supportive she only is thinking about herself. Which lowkey contradicts herself in like the next two episodes.
