Happy Holidays everyone! This was something I really needed to listen to, I've been dealing with some serious bullshit from the boomers in my immediate family. For one example, I tried showing my aunt an Ember Green video discussing the ableism and the hateful BS inherit in the Harry Potter books, but barely a minute in, she demanded that I turn off the video because Ember wouldn't pussyfoot around how much of a piece of shit Rowling is and how she hated the series. We then got into an argument over how, despite all the horrible shit that Rowling believes in and advocates, she's still a fan of the Harry Potter series even though I'm someone who's harmed by such beliefs. My aunt is this neo-lib, centrist, "can't we all get along?", civility politics-huffing, Dunning-Krugerian jackass who gets more upset at me for calling out my father's bigotry than any of the bigoted bullshit that my father spews from his anus of a mouth. She actually felt disappointed that in the Twilight Zone movie, Vic Morrow's white nationalist character wasn't redeemed at the end, yet advocated killing My Hero Academia villain Tomura Shigaraki as a child for accidentally killing his shitty, abusive as fuck family. I think the worst thing is that after the aforementioned argument, she had to ask me if I still loved her. Of course I said I did, but for two reasons; 1) That was the only acceptable course of action to take there and 2), unlike her, I actually feel bad for hurting people.
