I'll be totally honest—unless there's another statue that nobody takes pictures of, I don't know what you're talking about when it comes to the Space Jesus. Maybe it's because I grew up marginally Catholic, but that looks like a super normal statue of White Jesus. And he's just wearing a toga with one nipple out; he's hardly a provocative, sexy Jesus. You don't get a lot of "sexy" versions, but you do at least see many nearly-nude crucifixion scenes. If you want a legit "homoerotic Jesus" I'd recommend Michaelangelo's "Risen Christ", the first version of which has full scrotum visibility on a mature, hunky Yeshua.

This was more than a GAM episode. It was so enlightening to hear the experiences of people who have to go through this shit. This has occurred in previous Mormon Movie Months, of course, but this one really seemed to have nailed it. It'd be interesting if you could ever find someone who escaped Scientology and was willing to tell their story in a similar fashion. I can think of a few reasons why that might be hard, but it would be interesting to hear if it ever happened.

a few years ago I found this podcast through the Singles Ward episode (as an exmo all these mormon movies were our “pre-approved” sunday movies so I saw them MANY times) and I remember the guys being so confused by a random scene of a guy crying over a book and laughing my ass off because they didn’t GET it. Charly was my sister’s favorite book growing up and everyone freaked out about it. And now here we are, the wheel has come full circle.
