Funnily enough, the stuff in this movie about weird blurred lines between manager and trainer is pretty accurate to real life professional boxing. Boxing is still ridiculously corrupt and poorly regulated, and a lot of fighters have trainers who also act as managers and often rip them off blind when dealing with their money since the fighter's so focused on training. Also, yes, weirdly enough medicine ball throws are still used frequently in professional fighter training. It's a good way to practise coordinating your whole body for throwing power into punches. A good half of boxing training is still old-wives tails and bro-science with very little actual reaclity in science to back it up. Haha

In comparison, Philadelphia having a statue to Sly-as-Rocky isn't all that bad. The closest major U.S. City where I live (i.e. Milwaukee) has a bronze statue to The Fonz.
