In case you didn't fully follow the story of blessed Messiah and the tower of ai(Which is a fully original story, not tied to anything, and was originally a Japanese vocaloid(synthetic speech program designed for making music)(this version is an English translation cover sung by real people though)) after some disaster caused by mans hubris left most of the world uninhabitable a series of sacrifices was started to temporarily restore the world. The lumber cutters daughter of a small village was chosen, and her 9 friends joined her. At the tower they each pretended to betray her in order to take the torments that she would otherwise have to face.(she thinks they are blessings) when she gets to the top of the tower, she realizes that they were all still her friends, and sacrificed themselves for her. And finishes the ritual, temporally saving the world, but eventually someone else will have to go through it again

Absolutely love this series. It has a pretty good balance between serious story moments and absurd comedy. Most, if not all, of the voice actors are trained Broadway singers, and it shows in how amazing many of the songs are. The idea of a "fish out of water" kind of story isn't exactly new, but having a character basically transported from a serious anime-style animation into an absurdist comedy-style animation is. Horse's discomfort with all the situations she finds herself in is noticeable and funny. Here's a bit of interesting trivia. The series was rated TV Y7 in Australia, basically meaning it had the same rating as many Disney movies. How it managed to achieve that rating is a mystery with some of the jokes, innuendos, and themes.
