Chapter 591: Grand Battle
🕑 Added 2025-05-19 13:00:13 +0000 UTCNo, before that, Chunsang was alive? Logically, Tianyi’s mind told him the chances of Chunsang being an abysslord was slim, but he subconsciously believed it because of his experience with the Dragon Emperor.
Facts had proven his hunch correct.
Since it was correct, Tianyi classified Chunsang as a cockroach on the same level as the Dragon Emperor. Although he knew that Jiang Chunye only contributed to half of the being known as Chunsang, he did not separate Chunsang from Jiang Chunye.
It was stated that Chunsang’s personality had been erased. So even if she was reborn in the Nine Hells Abyss, she would no longer pose a threat. Well, a threat that’s targeting them. She was still a devil and devils thrived on destruction.
Tianyi didn’t quite believe it. He felt that there was always a possibility of Chunsang regaining her memories. If she did, Jiang Chunye might compose more parts of the existence known as Chunsang.
However, even if Tianyi suspected this, he couldn’t do anything. He couldn’t sneak into the Nine Hells Abyss just to kill Chunsang, could he? He was confident in himself, but that didn’t mean he was blindly arrogant.
He never had the illusion that he could accomplish what an alliance composed of numerous pantheons failed. At least, not yet.
Since he couldn’t do anything with Chunsang, Tianyi focused back on what was in front of him.
Daoyi stood in the center of a black prairie. She was in the center of the Mictlan, but she did not come alone. She was accompanied by six immortal monarchs. They weren’t soul cultivators like Daoyi, but martial monarchs.
Because of the nature of cultivation, soul cultivators were even weaker than spiritual cultivators outside the Three Thousand Immortal Realms. In terms of combat capabilities, a soul emperor was only equal to a martial monarch in the Nahui Ollin System, but pure offensive abilities were never a soul cultivator’s forte.
Tianyi was present, but he did not show himself. He told no one that he was shadowing Daoyi, so none of the monarchs knew he was present, but it cannot be denied that many of them teamed up with Daoyi because of him.
His ability to perform cross-universe teleportation was well known. Since he could teleport across the universe, what was a mere Mictlan? If they really fell into danger, they just needed to hold on for a bit and wait for Tianyi to arrive. Compared to other squads, they had the strongest safety net.
An ethereal light covered Daoyi’s body, faintly tainting the prairie with a ghastly sheen. It was the brightest near Daoyi and duller the farther it was. It was not a pure cosmetic effect.
The martial monarchs were duking it out with several devils. The closer the devils were to Daoyi, the crazier they acted. Although acting crazy might increase the lethality of their attacks, it also made them more predictable and less focused on defense. So, the devils fell faster.
It was not that there were no devils who could not see the danger, but those that wanted to target Daoyi failed. She was prepared to deal with long-rage attacks. Those that overestimated themselves and threw themselves at her became crazy. The martial monarchs have already experienced this many times, so they dispatched the devils coming crazily at Daoyi.
The smarter devils long noticed the disadvantage and retreated. Devils were creatures dictated by wrath, greed, pride, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth, but that didn’t mean they didn’t have fear. In fact, many devils were cowards, like Duke Dantalion.
In the end, the squad killed thirteen devils. Five of them were at the immortal monarch-level, one was at the immortal emperor-level, and the rest were comparable to true immortals.
In total, they got one thousand five hundred and seventy points for their success. Of those points, Daoyi got seven hundred and eighty-five of them. That’s right, she took half, but that was what she deserved.
Before fighting devils, the squad would discuss the distribution of points. Originally, they wanted to allot thirty percent to Daoyi. It was not because she was a soul cultivator, but more so because of her identity.
She was not the sole soul cultivator to come hunt devils, but soul monarchs could only affect one or two devils at the monarch level. Even if she was a soul empress, they did not think she could influence many.
That changed when they were besieged by a group of thirty devils. They thought that even if Tianyi arrived, they would lose at least two or three monarchs.
Even if only ten of the devils were at the monarch-level, because of the smaller disparity in strength, true immortal-level devils could also kill immortal monarchs more easily than in the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System.
To their surprise and delight, Daoyi suppressed the peak combat power of those thirty devils. Although they still had to flee, they lost no one and even killed half of the devils. Granted, they only killed two monarch level devils, and the rest were true immortal-level devils.
After that incident, they changed the distribution of points, giving Daoyi half of all the squad’s earnings. If they respected Daoyi because of her status as Tianyi’s wife and empress, now, they respected her more because of her power.
“Haha, what a bountiful harvest,” a martial monarch said.
A second immortal monarch chuckled and joined in. “The amount of points I earned in these past thousand years is more than a hundred times I made in the past four thousand years.”
“Of course. Since when have we had a bad harvest ever since teaming up with Empress Thrallsong?” Another monarch added.
“Okay, save the pleasantries for later. Let’s leave first. We don’t know if the devils will come out with reinforcement. If we are encircled again, it won’t be fun,” Daoyi said.
None of the monarchs disagreed with Daoyi’s words. Soon, all of them disappeared. As they expected, a group of devils arrived at their previous location.
“The speed at which the devils return is increasing.”
A monarch nodded. “It’s no wonder. The Mictlan is shrinking, and the amount of space the devil can inhabit is decreasing, so their density has increased.”
“At this rate, the court will summon us back for the final push to destroy this Mictlan.”
As if on cue, all of their Xiyi Talisman released a beep. They took it out and read the notification.
“Haha, speak of the devil and here they come,” an immortal monarch said.
None of the other monarchs found his phrase off. The phrase did not originate from the devils that appeared, but because they heard Tianyi use it while joking with Daoyi. At first, they didn’t understand, but after asking, they soon learned the meaning.
Like Tianyi, they also found the phrase ironic considering their situation.
“Let’s stop delaying and go back,” Daoyi said.
“Then we’ll have to congratulate Empress Thrallsong. With your abilities, you will surely shine on the battlefield,” the martial monarch said.
The squad usually only dealt with a small number of devils, but in the grand battle, Daoyi’s soul methods could affect far more of them. Sure, the suppression might be diluted, but the greater numbers made up for it. Although Daoyi had only recently joined and not experienced such a battle, these monarchs had already participated. With their knowledge and experience, they could guess what would happen.
“Then I’ll borrow your good words,” Daoyi said.
The squad returned to the fortress city and disbanded. Once she was alone, she looked around her. “Aren’t you going to come out?”
Her surroundings were silent, but only for a moment. As if he had always been there, Tianyi appeared. He didn’t ask why Daoyi knew he was shadowing her. Even if she didn’t know, she carried a tiny conduit of him in her sleeve.
“You’ve been staying at the base. How is it? Do you know when we will attack the rest of the devils and their composition?”
“It should be around the same as last time,” Tianyi said. “You read the reports, so you should act according to that situation. The two times we eliminated the Mictlans, the devils never showed any signs of coordination. At least on a large scale. Since this is the third time, I think Minister Vastlight and Minister Huang are much more experienced.”
Daoyi nodded. She didn’t ask anymore. Instead, she sat down and pondered on perfecting her techniques. She majored in the Law of Life-and-Death, and although it was incredibly difficult to increase her comprehension of it in the Nahui Ollin System, it didn’t mean she could not improve.
She had to use her current insights to increase the power of her techniques. The more insights she had, the easier it would be. Conversely, the fewer insights she had, the more difficult it would be.
However, it wasn’t without benefits.
Because once she increased her efficiency, it meant she had a deeper understanding of the law. It would be comparable to someone who could read an entire textbook anytime they wanted to someone who only knew half, but could recite half of the textbook.
Once she returned to the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, it would also be easier to comprehend the law too.
While Daoyi cultivated, the time soon came for the grand battle against the remaining devils in the Mictlan.
Before the battle, countless immortals returned to the fortress city. The number of immortals exceeded ten thousand, and even Daoyi who experienced the unification war of the Huang Realm and the final Divine Beast-Human War couldn’t be shocked when she saw so many immortals present.
Not just Daoyi, but Tianyi was the same in the first grand battle. More importantly, the ratio of monarchs to true immortals was even greater than the previous wars.
The Immortal Court did not hide their movements and marched toward the heart of the Mictlan. Once they destroyed the core, the corrosion would weaken, and after enough time passes, it would return to its former state.
The devils were unwilling to give it up, so they fought against the Immortal Court. Within the Mictlan, their powers increased, and they did not need to feed on souls, so it was their blessed land. But the Immortal Court had worked for thousands of years to cull them in order to weaken them to the point they could destroy the Mictlan, so even if the devils numbered more than the immortals, they were the weaker party.
The newcomers felt their scalp become numb when they saw the countless devils. Their sheer numbers blotted the sky. The ones who had already experienced this before remained calm, because he would soon take action.
Tianyi raised his palm up before flipping it and pressing down. An invisible domain emanated from his body and covered the surroundings. The devils who had rushed toward them instantly slowed. Ninety-nine percent of those in the sky plummeted to the ground and could only run. Some weaker devils fell flat on the ground and could only crawl.
That wasn’t the end.
Tianyi raised his palm again, and a ball of light appeared in his palm. It didn’t emit any heat and was not one of the usual miniature suns he used to cast Stellar Silence, but simply a ball of light. It was as if someone took an eraser and erased all the colors above Tianyi’s hand.
The ball of light shot countless streams toward the devils. Those weaker ones were directly pierced, causing most to scream and a minority to die. The stronger ones also suffered damage, but compared to those who had holes in their body, it was only a flesh wound.
The streams of light continued unabated, and when Tianyi finally stopped, the number of devils plummeted. Of course, Tianyi didn’t kill them all, but got rid of the weaker. Only a minority of the immortal-level devils perished.
Aside from eliminating the weaker devils, Tianyi left the immortal-level devils because the Immortal Court wanted to temper their members. So, he only used a light attack.
Yes, light. Both figuratively and literally.
If Tianyi used his Stellar Silence or Constellation Cessation, it would cause too much damage, so he could only use a casual attack. It was casual to the point that Tianyi didn’t even christen it with a name.
Now that the number of devils wasn’t as oppressive anymore, and the immortals charged forward. Daoyi was among them. She acted with a squad of nine monarchs and a hundred true immortals. Wherever she passed, she would emit a ghastly light that caused the devils to become crazy. Even if they did not, their rationality would diminish.
Tianyi stayed in the back. When he saw that someone was in danger, he would intercept, but only to save their life. He didn’t even take action to kill any immortal emperor-level devils; he left those to Minister Vastlight and Minister Huang.
Although the fighting was fierce, the Immortal Court won a resounding victory. They destroyed the core of the Mictlan, and many devils fled when they saw the situation turn sour.
