Chapter 590: Divine Words
🕑 Added 2025-05-16 13:00:10 +0000 UTCChunsang recognized Jiang Chunye’s grandfather at first sight. Although she thought he fell like most of the Jiang Family, she still saw his statue many times.
Her nonchalance toward Jiang Ziya was naturally because she took him lightly. Jiang Daoyi was an immortal monarch, and so was Jiang Ziya, but she was someone comparable to an immortal sovereign.
Because the information that Daoyi had become an immortal empress was only spread on a small scale, not many people knew about it, much less the Jiang Family and her true immortal master. Even if she learned Daoyi had become an immortal emperor, she would only consider the latter lucky and speed up her plans. Lest Daoyi become an immortal sovereign and become even more difficult to kill.
After the initial shock, Chunsang regained her composure. The flashes of emotions were so brief that few could discern the fluctuations on her face.
“Greetings, Ancestor,” Chunsang said, bowing to Jiang Ziya. Since he appeared, she could not act like she hadn’t seen his statue and treat him like a stranger.
Jiang Ziya did not speak. Instead, he stared at Chunsang silently.
His actions caused Chunsang to inwardly furrow her brows. What was wrong with the Jiang Family’s former patriarch? Did he think it was embarrassing to be weaker than his granddaughter, so he wanted to appear in front of his descendents to get some self-esteem?
Finally, Jiang Ziya spoke, but his words caused her body to tense. “You remind me of my two granddaughters.”
His son, Duke Jiang, had more than two daughters, but it was not strange for the patriarch of a family to only like a few of them. After all, men were allowed to take concubines. Once the number increased, they would have more descendants, and it was only natural to have favorites or only remember memorable ones.
“Ancestor honors me,” Chunsang said, feigning excitement. Inwardly, she was contemplating whether to silence Jiang Ziya and start over.
“Do you really think so?” Jiang Ziya asked, his voice as calm as a still lake. “Let me tell you about my two granddaughters. They can only be considered half granddaughters at best. They weren’t newly born or clean souls from the Sixth Paths of Samsara, but rather foreign souls from outside the system. One was born in the womb, while the other possessed my granddaughter who died by drowning.”
Chunsang’s heart skipped a beat. How could Jiang Ziya know? Even an immortal emperor could not have detected such a thing, right?
“You’re not exactly like her, but you really resemble her,” Jiang Ziya said. He sighed. “It’s as if all things work in a cycle, unable to leave.”
His last sentence confused Chunsang. Even though nothing seemed to have changed, warning bells rang in her mind. Still, she showed no sign of taking action. Instead, she showed panic.
Not panic at having been seen through, but panic at being falsely accused. “Ancestor, I’m innocent. I swear I’m not some foreign spy or monster!”
“Really?” Jiang Ziya asked, stepping forward.
Even though he was stepping forward, he did not release his qi and emit an oppressive air, but Chunsang still retreated, as if she could not withstand his momentum.
“A-ancestor!”
Chunsang’s legs shook the closer Jiang Ziya walked. Finally, she stopped retreating. Not because she wanted to, but because her legs had gone limp.
Logically speaking, no matter how fearful Chunsang became, she should not have reached the point of losing strength. But don’t forget that she had undergone the Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation. Although the reward for her successfully transcending and transforming her body, it did not mean she was in peak condition.
“The foreign soul born as a baby is fine, but my possessed granddaughter has many problems. I thought she only got someone corrupted by devils, but I didn’t expect her to merge with one,” Jiang Ziya lightly said, as if he was just discussing everyday weather. “Devils should not appear before me.”
Chunsang stared at Jiang Ziya with large and confused eyes. Although she was already a true immortal, she kept the appearance of a young girl not yet twenty, so when she widened her eyes, it still made her look cute and innocent.
But her actions ran completely contrary.
A deft hand shot forward, and a black dagger appeared mysteriously without warning. Just as it was about to pierce Jiang Ziya’s blue robes, it screeched to a halt, as if the robe was sculpted out of steel.
Chunsang immediately sensed something wrong, but since she already took action, she could not stop. Even though she hadn’t inserted her blade into his body, she still released her next move. Black, devilish energy exploded from the dagger.
To Chusang’s horror, the devilish energy was as slow as molasses. It could not expand to even a meter within a second, much less kilometers. She immediately recalled Jiang Ziya’s seemingly nonsensical sentences. Rather than spouting houses, it was as if he was declaring restrictions or rules.
Regardless of her thoughts, one second was more than enough time for Jiang Ziya to counterattack.
A golden pagoda-shaped truncheon appeared in Jiang Ziya’s hand. He struck. Although it had a blunted edge, it sliced through Chunsang’s current body and shattered her dagger.
The ease at which Jiang Ziya destroyed her body was aided by the fact that her body really was only a true immortal. Her true form was still hiding within.
“Hrrrrrrrr,” Chunsang gritted her teeth in pain. Not at being bisected, but the pulsating pain assaulting her soul. Jiang Ziya’s truncheon didn’t only inflict material damage, but spiritual damage too.
Since she had already attacked, and Jiang Ziya immediately counterattacked, Chunsang knew that her identity had been exposed. She didn’t know how or why—perhaps Xi Tianyi had told them and aroused their suspicions—but it didn’t matter. What was important was to kill Jiang Ziya or flee with her life.
Black energy leaked from Chunsang’s bisected upper body, but just like when she released her attack, the devilish energy was as slow as molasses.
Chunsang appeared in her true form, but it felt like an even heavier shackles had been imposed onto her. “What did you do?!”
Jiang Ziya glanced at her lightly. “Divine words, have you heard of it?”
Divine words were a special ability only a divinity had. With it, they could manipulate the rules of the world. If they said fire freezes, fire would freeze. It was different from a divinity’s ability to alter reality thanks to their mastery of the law, but it was only useful against those much weaker than them and not against other divinities. In addition, only divinities of and within the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System possessed this trait.
Without waiting for Chunsang to reply, he whipped the truncheon forward. The pagoda-like weapon split at the segments, revealing golden essence linking them together. It truly became a whip.
Chunsang naturally felt the essence contained in the whip, or rather, divine energy, as most systems called it. However, even if the whip was a divine artifact, it was impossible for Jiang Ziya to wield so easily. Coupled with his previous words, she easily reached the truth.
“You’ve become a divinity?!” While questioning Jiang Ziya, Chunsang dodged. However, her body was too slow, and the whip coiled around her before tightening like a snake.
The same pain that assaulted her when Jiang Ziya bisected her body appeared again. Only this time, it was far greater.
Chunsang couldn’t help but release a cry of pang. Only then could she grit her teeth and withstand the torture. “Y-You, what is this?”
“This is the Godsmiting Whip, have you heard of it?” Jiang Ziya asked.
“Godsmiting Whip?” Chunsang repeated. If the question was asked to Jiang Chunye, who did not know much about mythology, it wouldn’t have any effect, but Hun Jusang was different. He knew many legends of the Primordial World. Perhaps because of the Buzhou Immortal Sect, he especially knew about the history of the immortal court.
“Jiang Ziya, Godsmiting Whip,” Chunsang said, slowly connecting the dots. “You are Jiang Ziya, the one who conferred the gods in the Celestial Conferment Scroll?! You’re alive? No, you survived and reincarnated!”
Horror appeared on her face. If this was outside the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, she would still be fearful, but not as much. The Godsmiting Whip was a divine artifact that could suppress gods. She was not even a devil comparable to a divinity, so it was even more effective on her.
“Even with the Godsmiting Whip, if I kill you, I probably can only delay your revival in the Nine Hells Abyss,” Jiang Ziya said.
Chunsang’s fearful heart calmed, but not by much. Since Jiang Ziya admitted this, did this mean that he would seal her instead? Although sealing would not kill or destroy her, it would incapacitate her for who knows how long.
Naturally, she didn’t want to be sealed. So, she struggled, but it was useless. She was like a bug trapped in a spider web, unable to free herself. Soon, she couldn’t even struggle anymore. “W-What a-are you doing!?”
“You’ll see,” Jiang Ziya said.
Bound by the Godsmiting Whip, Chunsang’s eyes grew duller and duller. After seven days and nights, the light of wisdom disappeared into her eyes. What was left behind was only the most primal malice.
Chunsang—no, the nameless devil roared. Its form shifted from a beautiful woman in pink robes into a vaguely human-shaped blob that roared. It fought and struggled, disregarding any injuries it received because of its action.
Jiang Ziya nodded in satisfaction. He tugged the divine artifact, and the Godsmiting Whip tightened. Soon, the nameless devil could not withstand the constraint, and was split into several pieces. The pieces shattered and disintegrated into ashes under the divine energy released by the Godsmiting Whip before even touching the ground.
He had destroyed Chunsang’s consciousness. Although she would still be revived, it remained unknown if she could keep her status as an abysslord. Even if he couldn’t eliminate her consciousness completely, she would likely lose much of herself and maybe almost all her memories.
Jiang Ziya was able to accomplish all this seemingly so easily thanks to the power of the Godsmiting Whip and the nature of Chunsang’s birth. She was born from the souls of two beings. Because of the unique nature of Jiang Chunye’s soul, it became the dominant consciousness after the merger of the two. However, it was ultimately a new existence cobbled together from two souls using devilish energy, giving it a glaring weakness for those who could target it.
After finishing Chunsang, Jiang Ziya nodded in satisfaction. He swung the Godsmiting Whip and its sections retracted, resembling a truncheon once more. Then, he left without anyone the wiser.
After returning to the Immortal Court, he reported what had happened to his fellow divinities.
“Congratulations, Junior Brother. Although the Godsmiting Whip has been weakened, it’s still an effective weapon against divinities,” the Concealed Emperor said.
Jiang Ziya shook his head. “That remains to be seen. Even if it’s not useful against divinities, it can be used as a defensive weapon against those abysslords that dare to invade the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System.”
The Concealed Emperor nodded. “We still have to test it in true combat. Both Junior Brother Huanglong and I have tested its effectiveness, but ultimately, we have not pushed it to its limit. The Buddhists have become more and more withdrawn. Perhaps they are planning a big move. We should eliminate the Numinous Sword Sect as soon as possible after the devil hunt ends to prevent any accidents. It will also be a good testing ground.”
“I feel that those bald donkeys aren’t up to anything good. We should find their traces first before committing to take any action against the Numinous Sword Sect,” Perfected Huanglong said.
The Concealed Emperor nodded. “Let’s do it that way. We have plenty of time before the competition ends.”
After the decision was made, the three of them split up. Although Chunsang’s end was not announced to many people, Tianyi was still told. He didn’t know how it was done, just the results.
However, he didn’t question who had helped him kill his enemy, but became confused. Shouldn’t he be the one to deal with Chunsang? Why was she eliminated before he took action?
