Chapter 589: Unexpected Encounter
🕑 Added 2025-05-14 13:00:16 +0000 UTCBecause Chunsang possessed the body, normal cultivation would not work, but she didn’t want to expose herself by using devilish qi either. So, she used the body to embark on the path of martial cultivation. Compared to spiritual and soul methods, martial methods placed less importance on the soul, which would decrease the risk of exposing herself.
Granted, it was still very constraining for Chunsang. She had to seal most of her power, weakening herself tremendously. It was like a regular person chaining ten pounds to each limb and putting in earplugs, sealing their sense of smell, and blindfolding themselves on top of all that.
After gaining enough power, Chunsang returned to the village. The girl whose body she took over had a miserable life, like her new identity when she first reincarnated. Jiang Chunye was neglected, but she was not forced to do chores.
This girl, on the other hand, was practically the family’s slave in all but name. That wasn’t the worst part. The girl was raised by her uncle and aunt because her parents died, but the only reason why her uncle and aunt took her in was to reap her parent’s wealth, who died young before they could have another child.
After gaining the wealth, the foster family saw the girl as a burden, but they couldn’t outright kill her. So, they abused her, frequently withholding food and forcing her to live outside in the cold or rain as punishment.
Even though they took everything from the girl and treated her like a slave, none of the neighbors did anything. Some might have tried to help or say something in the beginning, but after being rebuffed again and again over the long years, they gave up.
Had the girl not possessed a good spiritual root, she would have died long ago. Even then, it was only a matter of time before the girl died. There was only so much a mortal could withstand, despite the excellent physical foundation.
Although Chunsang did not consider herself a good person, considering she wouldn’t bat an eye breaking agreements or stabbing allies in the back, she had a bottom line. True, it was much lower than before her birth as a devil, but perhaps it was a remnant of Jiang Chunye’s regrets because she felt the need to avenge the original body.
True, Chunsang killed the girl because of her possession, but the girl would have died, nonetheless. At least this way, the girl should feel relieved once she found out in the Nether Realm, right?
So, Chunsang found the family again. She hadn’t left for long, only less than a decade, but she was already in the Acupoint Opening Realm. She would have returned earlier, but martial practitioners could only externalize qi to cast spells or curses after ascending to become an acupoint opening master. If she could have taken the spiritual path, she would only need to become a foundation establishment disciple.
For devils like Chunsang, a decade was like a blink of an eye, but for mortals, it was generational.
The body’s aunt and uncle had become elders in their forties. Their son and daughter have also married and started their own life. There were some conflicts and unhappiness, but it was an ordinary life. Their life was only marginally affected by Chunsang’s departure.
If all else remained the same, they would die in peace.
How could Chunsang allow such an injustice?
Killing them was a punishment too light.
So, Chunsang cast a curse on them that they could not disobey any request made to them. This shackle on their neck was greater than any slave collar or whips.
No one noticed anything at first, but soon, the people around them realized the abnormalities. After trying to help, humankind’s innate desires flowed out.
The first one to abuse the curse was the husband of the body’s cousin. He treated her like a slave, and even his children picked up on the habit. Not only were the in-laws not furious, but they were even more abusive than the husband.
She wanted to ask her natal family for help, but they were also troubled by the curse. How could they help?
Because of the family’s reputation of abusing the original body, not many women were willing to marry into the family. The original body’s cousin only got a wife after paying a high bride price.
The wife was suppressed by the cousin and the uncle and aunt, but they didn’t dare to go as far as they did with the original body. Even though the wife was sold in all but name, she still had a natal family to rely on if they pushed her too far.
So when the wife discovered the curse, she didn’t immediately take action. She tested it out first. Only after confirming did she become the ruler of the house. Her in-laws, who subsisted on her labor to live comfortably now had to toil for her leisure. The husband and uncle had it the worst by far, toiling all day to make money.
Of course, the original body’s foster family tried to find help, but it was all for naught. No one knew how to break the curse, and everyone they tried to find either scammed them or couldn’t do anything.
As the years passed, their situation became worse. They were no longer treated as slaves but mere tools. The experience made them numb themselves in order to continue living.
It was not that they hadn’t thought of committing suiciding, but the people around them did not want to lose such a useful tool. Even the villagers started to take advantage of them.
Chunsang watched all of this coldly. In fact, she had a hand in those miracle doctors. Only by having hope could they experience deeper despair. When they became too numb, she also took action to reignite their emotions.
In total, she waited twenty-four years. Perhaps because of their advanced age, the original body’s aunt and uncle died eleven years later. In contrast, her cousins died at seventeen and twenty-four years, respectively. The cause of death was not only the result of toiling away, but because they lost the will to live.
The wife wasn’t too sad. The long years had ground away any affection she had. She did not have to worry about being a widow because her children had also grown up. The husband wasn’t doing too bad either.
But all this had nothing to do with Chunsang. Originally, she was prepared to wait a hundred years if she had to. It didn’t matter. She wanted to extend the cultivation time as much as possible to avoid revealing any abnormality. After all, this higher rank realm also had an Emperor Hall.
Normally, she should wait over a thousand years before “ascending,” but Chunsang did not want to stay so long. So she ascended a hundred years later.
The scene of her undergoing the Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation attracted many spectators. Thanks to the appearance of the Immortal Hall, the locals were no longer ignorant. And the number of Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation increased. Not to mention the appearance of the Xiyi Talisman with the growing influence of the Emperor Hall.
After entering the Primordial Realm, Chunsang immediately hid herself. Doing so would undoubtedly draw attention to herself, but it was only relative. Plus, she wanted to abandon her current body for a new one, so it was better for her to avoid any interaction with the immortals of the Primordial Realm.
The first thing Chunsang did was to acquire a Xiyi Talisman. In the Primordial Realm, even a mortal could get a Xiyi Talisman, even if she masqueraded herself as a mortal cultivator.
She used it to gather information. Nothing exact, just general. Coincidentally, Chunsang actually appeared in the Xi Dynasty after ascending.
“Perhaps this is fate,” Chunsang said with a sigh. “I’ll really be Jiang Chunsang then.”
Chunsang snuck into the Jiang Family and searched for a suitable body to take over. Perhaps because half of her existence was formed from Jiang Chunye, but Chunsang found several suitable candidates. In the end, she chose an infant still gestating in a womb.
The mother’s status was not too low, but it wasn’t too high either. A member of a branch family second or third only to the prime lineage.
Chunsang left her current body and entered the fetus. Once she did so, her old body flew away. Because of Hun Jusang’s information, she knew that the Immortal Court likely had a way to monitor who left and entered the realm. Even if it was no longer the Huang Realm, the same principle might apply, so she had the body fly as far as possible before allowing it to fall to the ground.
The body was still breathing, but it was soulless. It would not take long before it disintegrated with heaven and earth. If any fortunate soul came across it, they might dramatically increase their potential with no drawbacks. Although Chunsang was a devil, she did not corrode the body to avoid leaving any clues.
When she was born into this world, she influenced her mother to name her Chunsang. Thus, Jiang Chunsang was born into the world again.
Later, Chunsang discovered that using the “spring” character in her name made it mildly inconvenient.
She hadn’t investigated too deeply, but any characters related to Daoyi’s sisters, brothers, her father, and duchess were considered unlucky characters to use in names. Only the current head of the Jiang Family, Jiang Ziya, was spared from this treatment.
“Wastes, the lot of them,” Chunsang cursed.
Speaking of Jiang Ziya, he completely disappeared from the world after Daoyi’s wedding. The Jiang Family couldn’t contact him at all, and they could only conclude that he had fallen, which only made them place more importance on Daoyi.
Chunsang forced herself to obediently enter the Jiang Family shrine every year and pray to the statue at the center, surrounded by ancestral tablets. The prayers were just as disgusting as the act.
Although it wasn’t obvious, the Jiang Family practically confessed fault and blamed themselves. This caused the new generation to view themselves as sinners and feel indebted to Jiang Daoyi.
She sneered.
Still, Chunsang went through the motions, and no one discovered her abnormality. Although the Jiang Family declined, they still had a transcending mortality saint guarding them, but a mere saint was far from enough to pierce Chunsang’s disguise.
The years passed. Chunsang didn’t stand out at first, and was even suppressed because of her name, but she gradually showed greater and greater talent, until she became one of the top three geniuses of the Jiang Family.
Of course, genius was just relative. She reached the peak of the Body Transformation Realm before reaching the age of twenty. As long as she had a chance, she could pass and become an acupoint opening master before thirty.
Because of this, they sent Chunsang and the other talented scions to join the first-rate sects closely related to the Immortal Court. Although the Immortal Court retreated from the public eye, they still had close relationships with almost all the first-rate forces.
In the end, Chunsang became a disciple of an immortal in the Cultivator Alliance.
Although the Cultivator Alliance only had a modest land—most of which was not concentrated and scattered throughout the Trinity Continent—no one would dare to underestimate it. Even many first-rate forces would not make an enemy out of them because backing them was the Immortal Court. Even if the Cultivator Alliance fought alone, it would need several first-rate forces to ally together to destroy it.
Granted, the Cultivator Alliance was split into inner and outer members, and only inner members could be counted on.
Chunsang took several hundred years to become a mortality shedding saint. During these hundreds of years, several descendants of the Jiang Family left, unable to withstand the oppressive education anymore. Some even openly rebelled and wanted to take vengeance on the Jiang Family for pinning their sins on them. The worst fell to the devilish path.
Naturally, this was the result of Chunsang’s handiworks. Her actions were extremely secretive and only increased their chances of falling to the devilish way. She did not use her abilities as a devil, but true bewitchment never required force.
Finally, Chunsang underwent her second Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation. She succeeded, naturally.
However, she didn’t expect that the person who greeted first was not her so-called master, but someone else.
“Jiang Ziya!?”

😬 Well that's a quick end to her plans. She is definitely not capable of facing a divinity yet. I wonder what he will do with her? Probably start by trapping her in one of his pocket realms, but then what? Extract all the knowledge and memories from her soul to get information on the devils? She has obviously been watched for some time but has been allowed to live for some reason.
