Chapter 585: The One on the Throne
🕑 Added 2025-04-21 00:00:07 +0000 UTCDaoyi’s fingers halted and lay flat against the strings of her zither. She looked at Tianyi. “You said you saw Jiang Chunye?”
Tianyi nodded. After that incident, his conduit in the Nahui Ollin System had returned to standby mode, while he focused more on his conduit in the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System again. Naturally, he told Daoyi about his encounter with her sister.
“I always wondered what happened after our last encounter. I thought she died after vanishing after the unification war,” Daoyi said. Because of a name she hadn’t heard for a long time, she reminiscenced about her past.
Thanks to Daoyi’s status, the Jiang Family obtained many benefits. It wasn’t as much as the Xi Imperial Family, but it was more than enough. Even after the destruction of the Xi Dynasty during the unification war and the deaths of many Jiang Family members, they were able to rise.
Daoyi wasn’t the only immortal of the Jiang Family, but she might as well be. Jiang Chunye disappeared and even she couldn’t find any trace of her, much less the Jiang Family. As for her grandfather, Jiang Ziya, he seemed to have also disappeared after her wedding. In effect, she was the only immortal the Jiang Family could rely on.
Although she contributed little resources to them, unlike Su Bojing to the Su Clan, her presence was more than enough to deter many people from provoking the Jiang Family. Despite her nonchalance toward them, they still gained many resources from outsiders who wanted to establish good relationships with Daoyi.
In the outsider’s eye and current culture, no matter how bad Daoyi’s relationship with the Jiang Family was, she still carried the surname. Would she really do nothing if the Jiang Family begged her?
The answer was yes.
Thousands of years ago, the Jiang Family sought an audience with Daoyi. Thousands of years had passed since Daoyi first left them, and the original duke, duchess, and siblings had long since returned to dust. Now, all that was left were their descendants. They still resided in the newly reestablished Xi Dynasty. Because of Tianyi’s and Daoyi’s relationship, many people believed the Jiang family had a strong backing.
Because of the passage of time, the disagreements between Daoyi and her family became blurred. Thanks to this, they confidently used Daoyi’s name, believing she was their greatest backer. Eventually, they provoked someone they couldn’t afford to.
Thus, the Jiang Family sought an audience with Daoyi, but when they met, Daoyi refused to help. Even when they begged, she remained unmoved. Eventually, the many people present, who had long grown arrogant, cursed her, causing Daoyi to directly expel them from Buzhou Immortal Island.
Had it not been for their relationship with the Xi Imperial Family, the Jiang Family would have ceased to exist to this day. But instead of reflecting on what went wrong, they grew resentful of Daoyi and tried to instigate the Xi Imperial Family to ruin Tianyi and Daoyi’s relationship, using the fact that Daoyi was too cold and unsuitable for Tianyi.
Tianyi’s cousin and Xi Ri’s brother, Xi Chen, had ascended to the Pathfinding Immortal Realm thanks to the two’s support. After becoming immortal, he had abdicated from the position of emperor. Although the Xi Dynasty was not even a third-rate force, it was much better than second-rate forces because of their connection to Tianyi and Mengfei.
The next emperor passed on the position to their successor of choice, with no new immortals rising out of the Xi Imperial Family. Among the Xi Dynasty, only Xi Chen and the current emperor had the right to see Tianyi, Xi Ri, or Mengfei.
Cajoled by the Jiang Family, the current emperor sought an audience with Tianyi. Although he had the right, he rarely exercised it. Among the Xi Imperial Family, only Xi Chen would regularly see Tianyi or Mengfei. Well, for a certain amount of regular. That being around every hundred years or so.
When Tianyi heard the emperor’s persuasion, he directly waved his sleeves. Before he even realized, he discovered that he was back in the imperial palace of the Xi Dynasty. The emperor grew fearful, realizing that Tianyi was displeased with him.
He waited with bated breath as to the followup, but when nothing happened in the following weeks, he sighed in relief.
He was relieved too soon.
Xi Chen had exited his secluded cultivation and demanded why he saw a message from Tianyi revoking the emperor’s right to request a meeting in his Xiyi Talisman upon checking it. Once he heard this, the emperor’s legs trembled. Although the emperor seemed powerful, this honor was gained because Xi Chen allowed it.
He directly revoked the emperor’s position, returning him to an ordinary member of the imperial family. No longer could enjoy access to resources that would make many green with envy. No, it could be said that it was even worse. In the history of the Xi Dynasty, no emperor had their position revoked. And there are no seamless walls. It wasn’t well known, but many of the well-informed Xi Imperial Family members learned of this and they ostracized the former emperor.
The Xi Imperial Family gained their power thanks to Tianyi and Mengfei. Offending the two of them was undoubtedly seeking death.
To show their resolve, they wanted to expel the former emperor from the imperial family registry, but Xi Chen stopped it. He was clear that although Tianyi was angry; it wasn’t to the point that he wanted the former emperor’s death. If anything, it might make him disappointed with the Xi Imperial Family.
Although the former emperor escaped punishment, the same could not be said for the Jiang Family. The Xi Imperial Family had helped them deal with a crisis. Not only did they not repay them, but they almost brought catastrophe instead.
Just like the former emperor, the Xi Imperial Family ostracized the Jiang Family. No longer would their princes marry the daughters of the Jiang Family, nor would their princesses marry into their family. The other noble families sensed this and started dividing the Jiang Family’s influence and resources.
Before, they could only watch, but now that the Jiang Family became a fat piece of meat, they were like ravenous wolves chowing down. Even the Jiang Family’s enemy sensed this. Whenever they left the capital, their enemies would descend onto them and fight or kill them.
Although the Jiang Family lost a lot of influence, power and even many members, they were not destroyed. The reason was laughable: because the other families and enemies feared what Daoyi would do if they really eliminated the family by the roots.
Success came from Daoyi; failure also came because of her. Yet, it was her deterrence that guaranteed the family’s continued existence.
After experiencing all this, the current head of the made a solemn decision. He unearthed the history between Daoyi and the Jiang Family. He even altered the education of the younger generation, preventing them from becoming arrogant and making many view themselves as sinners. To this day, they would still deliver gifts to Daoyi during the holidays without seeking anything in return.
The changes of the Jiang Family entered Daoyi’s eyes, but it didn’t matter to her. She cared more about her mother’s family than her father’s family. If the Xu Clan still existed, she would have supported them until they produced an immortal.
Her preference was obvious.
“I doubt she wants to reminisce with you at all. She’s a devil and has a relationship with Duke Dantalion. She used him as a decoy in order to lower my guard to assassinate me,” Tianyi said. “The relationship between the two is probably purely business, but you shouldn’t let your guard down. If she comes back to the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, it might be a catastrophe for the Immortal Court.”
He walked behind Daoyi and placed a hand on her shoulder. “Even I couldn’t detect her presence before she struck. It’s only when I opened my third eye that I could sense her. I don’t know if the Truth-Seeking Eye has the same capabilities.”
Daoyi lifted a hand off her zither and traced the vertical mark on her glabella.
“Her attack power is no joke, either. If it was anyone other than me, they would have been seriously injured, if not killed,” Tianyi said. “Even Mother would have trouble defending against that attack.”
“I know,” Daoyi said. “I’m still only an immortal monarch. She’d probably wouldn’t need to even exert one hundredth of her power to destroy my physical form.”
“Don’t think you can survive with just your soul,” Tianyi said. “The body is a natural defense for the soul. Once outside, your soul will be more susceptible to devilish influence.”
Daoyi smiled, and a teasing look appeared on her face. “I never thought I would be lectured by you about souls.”
“That’s because I experienced the fight with devils in the Nahui Ollin System. What about you? When do you plan to temper yourself against the devils?” Tianyi asked.
“Give me a while,” Daoyi said. “I can feel the bottleneck in my understanding of the Law of Life and Death loosening. If it’s short, I’ll become an extremity immortal in a hundred years. A thousand years if it’s long.”
Tianyi nodded. Among their group, Yan Nie had already become an extremity immortal thousands of years ago. Now, he was focused on fusing the Law of Five Elements with the Law of Fire. As long as he fuses around fifty percent of the Law of Five Elements with the Law of Fire, he could become an immortal sovereign. If he fuses it completely, he would have a chance to become a divinity.
Yan Nie also had another focus, cultivating a divine fire. As long as he succeeded, he would be able to harm a divinity, even as an immortal emperor.
Aside from him, there were many others who succeeded. Not just emperors, but many monarchs and true immortals appeared. The rate far exceeded the era of the Huang Realm. Most of the success concentrated on Buzhou Immortal Island. Immortal Heavenly Tribulation can be hidden, but Dao Manifestions cannot. Because of this, the greater realm knew that the Immortal Court produced many monarchs.
The Immortal Court didn’t give any confirmation, but cultivators weren’t stupid. With so many Dao Manifestations, it was impossible for each new monarch to be a hermit or remain hidden.
Not all this success could be attributed to the exposed worldly law when the Divine Beast Pseudo-System merged with the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System. Part of it was due to the Primordial Realm itself. Although the Immortal Court merged the Huang Realm with fifty-four other realms, the full effects had yet to show.
The Primordial Realm’s essence was higher than the Numinous Realm. The more powerful the realm, the greater talent life within would be born, and the easier it would be to breakthrough to a higher realm. In a sense, the Primordial Realm was becoming a demi-divine rank realm.
Once it truly has risen to a demi-divine realm, the Immortal Court would fuse the three demi-immortal realms retrieved from the Divine Beast Pseudo-System to raise its essence once more. It wouldn’t become a true divine realm, as it would need to fuse more and more realms.
The Immortal Court’s goal was to recreate the Primordial World, hence why they renamed the Huang Realm to the Primordial Realm. Naturally, once they fused all the realms into the Primordial Realm, they would transform from the hegemon of a realm to the hegemon of an entire system.
“Have you told Mother?” Daoyi asked.
Tianyi shook his head. “I wanted to, but I haven’t been able to contact her for over a thousand years. Last I knew, she’s still in secluded cultivation.”
“That’s strange,” Daoyi said, tapping her finger on her zither. “She’s never been out of contact with you for so long.”
***
Inside the core of the Immortal Court stood a majestic palace. It was the headquarters of the Immortal Court of the primordial era. Although it was still dilapidated, many areas had been restored compared to nearly thirty thousand years ago.
The palace had walls, but no roof. The sky was bare to all the occupants of the throne hall. Two rows of nine pillars stood parallel to each other. Their towering height made it seem as if they were preventing the sky from collapsing with the earth.
There were a total of four people in the throne hall. One was the Concealed Emperor, the second was Perfected Huanglong. The third remained unknown to most of the world, but Tianyi and Daoyi would definitely recognize him. He was Jiang Ziya!
The former head of the Jiang Family exuded a divine aura, signifying his status, but it was the fourth person who was the most shocking. While three divinities stood in the hall, she alone sat atop the throne.

What? Who is it? Is it mengfei? Godess of motherhood and awkwardness? 😆😆

Probably a reincarnation of a divinity from primordial era would explain his cultivating speed
Sloth
lol what is this ending? Mengfei godking? Also Ziya becoming a divinity before even Tianyi is just ridiculous. I thought tianyi’s progress in the laws was supposed to be unheard of, even in the primordial era? Unless he’s a divinity like the numinous sword sect’s divinity, who was raised forcefully?

Empress Ping left the underworld? Did she leave poor Granny Meng to manage by herself?
