tbh i dont think second seasons mostly do bad. most of my fav shows, fav seasons, are the second ones. (and many people feel the same way) while many shows have better first seasons, many shows have also a better second seasons, cause they can improve on a lot of stuff.

You are not the only one Cait, I do not like Tyler as a character either. But I do recognize the actor is doing a great job, because his scenes are always kinda uncomfortable to watch, because are scary and creepy and wich is the purpose.
