6k on a car I bet it was bought “as is” meaning it doesn’t work or it needs a lot of work to be safe to drive. You can easily buy an old classic car that doesn’t actually drive for 6 k and then you have to put thousands of more dollars into it. My ex was really into buying junk cars and fixing them up and once it was fixed and running properly he would trade it for another junk car. He spent SO much money fixing these cars

Mom story—I do not think he was the asshole. For as many stories as we have seen, it’s evident that 9/10 times, when a child is anywhere close to closed off or firm with parents, it’s because of the parent. He was the asshole in that he invited his dad to fish, but he probably was doing so to get out of his wife’s hair for her recharge. Mom should have asked. “My money” story—yes he is ABSOLUTELY the asshole. It sounds like he has 2 of his own cars, spends his own money for his own hobbies and likes as he wants. It is so common that SAHM are limited with their finances because of mindsets like what he said—it’s “my” money from the breadwinner, not “ours”. He’s a prick. She should be allowed to buy what she wants (within reason) and she should be able to enjoy it just as much as he does. It’s financial abuse!!
