40% of police officers admitted to beating their wife and/or children. The study is relatively old I think, however it still shows that 40% of officers were willing to admit that⦠Chills.

For the story of the woman who donated her wedding dress I feel like a big part of the hurt is knowing that, if his dad hadn't gone after him, her husband was going to leave her at the alter. He didn't have cold feet and want to leave. He left. That's so painful.
Trinity Cummings
The man in story 2 is very racist and I think he should have never married a white woman with all of this hated that he has for white people or maybe even specifically white women. Im so glad that yāall finally did a story about the racism that white people face!
Callie Christiansen
The story with the wife who doesnāt get to things and whoās husband got fired, screams undiagnosed adhd. Procrastination, avoiding your phone when overwhelmed, and yes, her career would be her hyper focus which also fits for adhd and would definitely be a state of overwhelm frequently. Thatās common for medical field workers. Especially undiagnosed medical field workers. And honestly, women go undiagnosed frequently. FREQUENTLY!

I agree! Especially after the paternity test inclusion on that story. To threaten to leave your unborn child based off skin tone is sickening- knowing full well the baby IS yours.

Story 1 I feel like their son has these behavioral issues based upon their fathers behavior and their mothers attention to her job. They both have an inability to compromise. She is lacking and he is an immature child to want to drag this out and be miserable about it. Their sonās behavior isnāt going to change until they both look in the mirror and grow up themselves. Did it mention their ages? I donāt remember but that would be an interesting insight. Also, I agree with other comments. It feels as though he intentionally left out important information. His behavior/comments make me feel that he did, so that he could make her out to be a villain. Heās clearly no walk in the park himself. Sometimes you really canāt pick up the phone and have patients back to back. Iāve seen it when I went to a pediatrician and as an adult going to the doctor. They are booked to the minute. Itās unprofessional to take a call. However, she has to have a lunch break somewhere in her schedule or times she uses the bathroom. She definitely should be able to respond at those times. If not, have the receptionist take a message and deliver it.
Meghan
The first story: I think we have some missing information. Is she a resident pediatrician? That will make a huge difference in why she might not be able to respond right away. As someone whose mother is a doctor (cardiac anesthesiologist), my mom was never available during the day. My dad realized very early on that he would have to be the primary contact when it came to emergencies (and he also had a very high pressure and demanding job). He definitely had to do a lot of adjusting when I was born, and I commend him for it. The OP doesnāt seem to want to grow in the way it is needed. In addition, some hospitals have spotty service and that might be why she isnāt getting the messages. Overall, when you marry a doctor, you need to realize what youāre getting into. I was warned by my mom and dad about marrying a doctor because of the fact getting a hold of my spouse would be so difficult. This man refuses to adapt so yes, he is the asshole. Does it suck that he lost his job? Absolutely. However, maybe this was the push needed to get a different job that would allow enough flexibility for him to be the primary contact and caregiver because it doesnāt seem that his wife is able to that in her position.

I have to comment on the plane shoes š¤£š¤£ I know people are against it but I CANNOT where my shoes for 13 hrs on a plane. Thatās live torture to the senses. However, I pack Lume wipes for every flight and separate set of plane socks. So when I get on the plane I take off my shoes, wipe my feet and out on my fresh socks with my other shoes and socks tucked away. When we get ready to land I put shoes back on. I feel this is a fair compromise and there is never any smell. If I have multiple flights (layovers) I pack a set of socks for each flight and I think this is 100% the way to go

Also, I just want to say that I wish something like THT or Reddit was around 15 years ago. Yāall would have saved me some grief lol. And Morgan, my dad loves Jack Benny (comedian from the 1950s) and says that heās 39 every birthday. He hasnāt been for many many years.
Talia
The Police Officer sounds like he is already jealous of the baby, and if thatās the case, this is only the beginning. He may not have been physical YETābut abusers know you wonāt stick around if they hit you before they have destroyed you emotionally and possibly financially first. Iām so glad people have suggested she look up techniques that abusers use to assert control and destroy self-confidence.
Alex Weidman
The police officer story is crazy, I hope she's okay. Morgan i'm so glad you're going to get a gun and go thru that process. Learning how to defend yourself properly is one of the best things to do these days. Make sure Justin comes with you and y'all both get a gun and do the whole process together. It will make the whole process of learning easier and building your skills way more fun. I suggest getting a Glock 19 mos , or a Glock 43x mos. Love you Morgan

The police officer story. Sounds like he had an emotional/mental break. He could have been contemplating suicide. And she interrupted so he knows he usually doesnāt have them out so he played it off in a strange way. I had a family member who was an officer who did something similar. His wife interrupted him and he was doing things so out of character. She sat him down and said what is wrong or going on at work. He broke down and spilled. And she suggested counseling. He went and it helped him get through the trauma. Most men try and stay strong in front of people because thatās what society expects but men have emotions too. People need to remember they deal with and see things majority of people never should or have to see. I donāt think heās being violent or meant to scare her. She needs to share her feelings more and they really need to have a sit down together.
Anna Godlewski
Itās so interesting that your face gets tingly when youāre upset Morgan. I can say Iāve never experienced that, but my eyes shake when Iām very upset. Apparently it looks odd to others and it is very uncomfortable for me lol. crazy how our bodies can all react so differently.
Kristen Rosen
Unfortunately someone who has dated a cop, and now dealing with the aftermath, 3 years later. He knows what his agency allows him to get away with. He has turned off his body camera footage, stepped on our property, and beat up my current boyfriend, after my boyfriend called him a āshort bitchā. Obviously, the other cop wrote him out of the police report. He used to sit outside my house for hours and drive by slowly. I didnāt notice the red flags until he beat my dog and would not stop. He left food out and she went to investigate and knocked a trophy of his over, and broke it. Many more issues, of course, and property that was damaged. He gave me false information and made sure his buddies ticketed me for it. Itās been 3 years and I am too broke to move, and have to deal living in his jurisdiction every day. Iāve done everything but contact a lawyer, because heās ensured to do all illegal activities in private, or knew where to dodge the cameras. I do have a cousin and friends who are cops. There are good cops, and there are bad cops. I hope the OP gets away safely, and has no repercussions.

If you flag someone on accident youāre out of the rangeā¦cops know not to flag a gun on purposeā¦you aim to shoot. You do not point at something youāre not willing to kill.

I feel like with the first story the husband is at his wits end, heās been the sole parent for his son over and over and maybe that could be a reason their son is acting out because he KNOWS how much time his Mum puts into her job, and yes people should have lives outside of families. However, I do agree with balance of work and home life, their son is still so so so young and sheās been dragging her feet about picking him up, answering calls, making appointments I would honestly be at my wits end too it makes me wonder who was more on the idea of kids? Personally the comment about the alimony gives me the Iām on my last straw, heās been giving so much emotional support to BOTH his wife and child and yet none for him, I donāt think heās the asshole
Kristy Lindner
story 2 sounds like a colorism issue. i know thats an issue in some black communities- that they look down on those with lighter skin, or who are half white. but if thats the case- why did he marry a white woman? im so confused.
Meghan MacDonald
The first story; yes marriage is a partnership especially when it comes to children. Itās a give and take, at one point I was the stay at home parent and my husbands job came before all because it literally paid all the bills/benefits for our family. A couple years later I got my time to go to work and work on my career. Now itās flip flopped back to me being primary care giver because once again my husbands job right now is much more important to the family. Do I bitch and moan sometimes about it being hard that heās gone for months and Iām at home with the kids? Of course this shit is hard; but am I spiteful about it? Absolutely not. Am I resentful about it? No. You have to look at whatās best for the whole family dynamic. It sounds like her job might be brining in more money/stability/benefits than his does. He needs to suck it up and be grateful that one income CAN support his family for the next year. Itās the whole theory of it never being truly 50/50, itās more fluid than that. Sometimes itās 80/20 other times itās 30/70 itās a constant shift back and forth that makes it work. I recommend couples counseling for them, his resentment will feed directly into their sonās issues, children pick these emotions up even if you try to hide them. They can sense when thereās tension in the house and it feeds into their own emotions.
