May Bonus Story 4 -- Audio

So going to get 5 bonus stories next month but to tie you over giving you some FKS stories that Justin and I just recorded with my dad. Let me know what you think of the listener write ins. Should we start mixing in a personal write-in from you guys here and there?

It means so much that you all read my story, and it means so much to me that Dad was willing to come to cheer my name! <3 Graduation went well, obviously my mom wasn't there, but I felt like I had mourned that beforehand so on the day I wasn't too sad about it. My dad, brother, sister, and partner were there cheering me on, which made me feel so loved! I haven't talked to my mom since and am still not sure how I want to proceed with her, so I will be very excited to hear your thoughts on the episode!"

I’m late to this episode, but I have been exactly where OP is. It’s hard growing up with a parent who is this selfish, because long into adulthood you question if your own (very valid) reactions to their behaviour are overreactions or unrealistic. OP, it isn’t too much to ask for your parent to be there for you. You don’t have to sit down and suck it up. You aren’t being dramatic. Family doesn’t necessarily mean that those people are healthy for you, and sometimes there are people in our lives - even our own parents - who are not physically capable of giving us what we deserve. But there are so many people who will do just that. You are worthy of a parent who cares about you enough to miss anything else just to see you graduate. You deserve that. I am so sorry

The biggest negative with listener write ins is that I can’t troll Reddit for additional updates. I would love to hear back from the listener in the first story with how things are going

As someone in the EXACT same situation as the second story; partner is morning her birth plan/fertility. She had an idea of what she wanted to happen, that she's dreamed of happening for a really long time and now she's finding out that it's *probably* not going to happen and she's grieving that. My wife and I went through the same thing and it has nothing to do with biology, we have 2 adopted children. My wife was only able to produce 4 eggs and only one of those were viable after we paid $26,000 out of pocket, dreamed, planned out the nursery, went to over 20 appointments, missed work, explained to our kid, got emotionally invested, ect. It hurts in A LOT of ways. Just give her time. In addition to all that, women are valued by their ability to make babies, so infertility or low fertility can be super hard. It's not about love because of biology, at all, it's way deeper.
