If you've been watching closely, you'll notice the July build had a problem. Because of course it did, why wouldn't it? This one was Ren'Py weirdness relating to file continuity, but once we were barking up the right tree was actually quite easily fixed. It did chew up a bit of time though... hey, think of the silver lining, you guys aren't gonna have that problem because I already fixed it!
Anyway, once that was done, I took a short break and tidied up around my house with the plan to go straight into writing once finished. But then, as I was going over plot ideas in my head as I vacuumed my damn carpets, a better way to structure the ending of Tai's route came to me... followed by a series of small new details, improvements, additions and upgrades.
...So I spent the next couple of hours doing a fresh draft of the final 5 days of the route in detail, working out their flow and tying all the little pieces together. And hey, it's good! I had all the key pieces in place before, but it just didn't feel right just yet... now, it does. The flow works really well I think and gives us a lot of content to work with in those final days while still giving us lots of opportunities to work in fun stuff. So... all's well that ends well, right?
Anyway after all that, I finally pulled my shit together and worked on Day 15. I just wrapped up the first version of the day and I plan to edit it and make a ton of improvements tomorrow. I don't know whether or not I'll get it all done tomorrow, to be safe I'd probably say not, but it'll probably be close regardless, close enough that I can finish it without too much issue during the week. The artwork is coming along well too, so fingers crossed we're not too far away now!
As mentioned in a previous post, immediate priority after Day 15 will be Day 16. If I finish ahead of the artwork, I'll even try to squeeze some into this upcoming build. I can get about a third to halfway through the day without any new artwork, and it'd be really great to include some stuff from that day. Then there's just one more super difficult scene to write and we're home free! ...sort of. There's still more days to go and some of those sequences may not be all that easy to write, but nothing will come close to the sequences in Day 15 and 16. Hopefully that means we can pick up the pace as we're moving towards the ending of the route!
