For the late pickup I wanted to add some insight for yall. My best friend is a lead teacher at a before / after school day care at the school. I also went to something similar as a kid. Most of this day cares close between 6pm-6:30pm. Of course if its a one time thing a lot of the people will let it slide especially if you call and let them know. If it is something that happens all the time you will rack up late fees. one example was in a snow storm here in MN this kids mom got into a crash and trying to find another person to pick him up. They were 2 hours late but because it was an emergency the mom was not charged. In the case of the story it seems like it happens a lot so they for sure will rack up the fees because it is so often.

The story about the 11 year old boy who didn't eat his birthday cake breaks my heart. That's almost the exact same relationship I have with my dad and I'm 28 and still untangling my relationship with food. The thing that make me even more sad is the kid is learning the dangerous lesson that his father's love is conditional and that's devastating.

definitely want more revenge stories! that first one was wild but i am sure there are a lot that are way worse. also that last story about the 11 year old who didn't eat his cake bc of his dad broke my heart. i have struggled with my weight my entire life and i could relate to this kid in the sense that i was that child who thought about what they were eating all the time bc of what other people around me said about what i ate and how i looked (luckily neither of my parents did that though). i hope that family is able to get their son help before it escalates. anyways, loved the episode!! love you two!! xx

Morgan, I’m so glad you all explained the “cannons” that happen in the beginning of the episode. For soooo long now when you have done them I have always thought it was mimicking Blue from Blue’s Clues 😅 and I got slightly annoyed. Mostly because my kids used to watch that all day everyday, so it was like the background noise to an already chaotic day with 3 kids as a SAHM. Cannons make so much more sense and now I can finally chill tf out and give you my complete listening ears.

Daycare late fees are super common and part of the agreement when you sign your child up. My child's daycare has late fees and policies for a certain time to call the police for child abandonment, but in their 10ish years of operation they've literally never had to charge someone a late fee, which is why it's so wild to me that he had to pay. There's often a 1-2 time warning system, they have call checks in place to contact parents and see why they're late, they get to know each family's schedule to see what to expect... Daycares often resort to enforcing late fees when it's the only remaining option, at least in my country, so this guy must be a real serial offender. Our fees are I think $50 for the first 15 minutes and then an additional $50 for each 5 minute or part thereof block after (e.g. 17 mins late is $100) and at a certain point they surrender the child to the police so carers can go home to their own families
