Lol I just don’t go home for the holidays anymore. It’s just not worth the stress and anxiety. We all do a FT and mail presents - not gonna lie, I’ve made a lot of progress healing since doing this. No more impending doom.

AS a Christian - this makes me SO mad too! There truly are so many 'Christians' that give the faith a bad bad bad name. Like, SO many it's overwhelming. I see it ALL the time too and it's the most frustrating thing. Genuine Christians are NOT judgy or rude. They're loving, welcoming, understanding.

For the first story, the kid is old enough to read he will be able to see that his name isn't on a stocking. He'll be hurt and probably resentful that his name isn't on a stocking.

For the story with the grandmother not making a stocking for the "step" child. When I was a child I had almost the exact same situation, and when the stocking was made for me, my name was spelled incorrectly on it. (To add insult to injury, I was named after a woman in the Bible and this is a very conservative Christian family) I was around 5 when this all happened and I had the same stocking, name spelled incorrectly, every year until I eventually went no contact as an adult. Kids definitely pick up on the exclusion. It makes me happy to hear all three of you emphatically hate this :)

I heard 6 too so it was really confused as to why a parent would tell there 6 year old their ruining Christmas. I was even more confused as to why this 6 year old had a phone. 16 makes a lot more sense. The mom still shouldn’t had said that to their child, no matter the age. My parents are divorced and we do the typical, one parents gets us in the morning and then we go to the other parents in the afternoon. And the flip flop the next year. When I was young, we did Christmas Eve on the 23rd with my dad and Christmas on the 24th and then we did Christmas Eve with my mom on the 24th and Christmas on the 25th, that was before my mom got remarried.
