5th Dev Diary, the new admission visual, the new contract system, the rework dna menu and the new localization and dialogue system.
🕑 Added 2022-05-16 20:02:38 +0000 UTCHello there! Sorry for being late. I had a lot to rework! Today we're gonna talk about the rework admission menu, the new contract system, the rework dna research menu, the new localization system and the dialogue system. I hope you'll like it.
FIrst, the new admission system. I wasn’t satisfied with the previous one showing only faces. It forced the player to check each girl individually by clicking on the Investigation/Coercion button. With this new UI the player has access to all unlocked data. I also added some filters at the top to help you navigate between the girls.
Here we have the new contract system. Contracts represent how the girl will work. There are 3 different contracts: A, B, C. Each contract has 6 terms/conditions: Working Days, Creampoie OK, Contraceptive Pills, Net Player Income Percentage, A multiplier if the girl is creampied and a Happiness Depletion if the girl is creampied. In details:
- Contract A:
- Working Days : 7/7
- Creampie : Always OK
- Contraceptive Pills : Always No
- Net Player Income : 80%
- Creampie Multiplier : x1 (none)
- Happiness depletion : 0 (The girl doesn’t mind having unprotected sex)
- Contract B:
- Working Days : 3/7 (Tuesday, Friday and Saturday)
- Creampie : Depends on the girl traits.
- Contraceptive Pills : Depends on the girl traits.
- Net Player Income : 75%
- Creampie Multiplier : x1.2
- Happiness depletion : -2 (If the girl wants protected sex, but get raw sex, the player will receive bonus money but the girl will loose happiness)
- Contract C:
- Working Days : 3/7 (Tuesday, Friday and Saturday)
- Creampie : Always NO
- Contraceptive Pills : Always NO
- Net Player Income : 70%
- Creampie Multiplier : x1.5
- Happiness depletion : -5 (If the girl wants protected sex, but get raw sex, the player will receive bonus money but the girl will loose happiness)
At the moment the happiness reaching 0 has no effect yet but will start specific events and gameover in later game versions.
Here you can see the new DNA research menu. Each research has 3 states. Locked, Unlocked, and Acquired:
- A mod in the Locked state will not be interactable, will be white and will be transparent.
- A mod in the Unlocked state will be interactable and will be white.
- A mod in the Acquired state will be interactable and will be coloured.
As an example take the Stamina Regen mods at the start of a new game:
- Stamina Regen Unlocked
- Stamina Mod 1 Locked
- Stamina Mod 2 Locked
- Stamina Mod 3 Locked
- Stamina Mod 4 Locked
- Stamina Mod 5 Locked
At the start of the game all mods will be locked until you unlock their branch. If you buy the “Stamina Regen” branch you will “Acquire” it and unlock the “Stamina Mod 1”. But if you want to unlock the “Stamina Mod 3” you’ll need to “Acquire” first the “Stamina Mod 2”. On the other hand, some modifications don’t need to be unlocked in a specific order. You’ll still need to unlock the branch though.
I switched from a custom built localization system to the new Unity one. From now on, all the tables are editable with google sheets and if some users want to add their own language they will simply need to add a column and fill it. Furthermore the new system allows me to add girl or player data directly into the replies/sentences without using some codes..
- Before, in a C# script:
- “Hello, my name is” + “girl.firstname” + “,“ + “ “ + “girl.firstname“ + “girl.lastname” + “.” “ Nice to meet you.”
- Now, directly inside the reply/sentences:
- “Hello, my name is {girl.firstname}, {girl.firstname} {girl.lastname}. Nice to meet you.”
It might not represent a big thing to you but believe me it’s much easier for me and allows much more personalised texts therefore more depth.
The new dialogue system, combined with the new localization system add some depth and lore to the game. At the moment the replies table contains more than 400 replies. Each trait, state, scenes etc… exist in 5 iterations. It took me quite a lot of time to create all of that and some replies, particularly the ones in english will need some polishing! The new dialogue system works like the one you find in visual novels. It starts to write letter/letter, if you click it writes the whole text and if you click again it starts to write the next message. The writing speed can be set in the option menu.
And as a bonus I reworked the save/load menu and as asked in the discord channel I added a button to delete your save.
I finally found a CG Artist. His name is Nov. He will be doing the intercourses illustrations first then the new girl standing illustrations. You can visit his Pixiv page here:
