XP Advection Surfaces (VIDEO TUTORIAL)
🕑 Added 2020-01-25 23:52:54 +0000 UTCHeyoo,
This is the second part of the advection series exploring surfaces. First part is very similar to Bob's in youtube, but i had to explain this basic concept before moving on.
Its a bit long, packed with info, as we get into more advanced methods of doing stuff with xp. Well. its not that advanced but it needs methodical follow up :)
As usual leave ur questions and comments below!
Have a great weekend!

idk as this is a 2 year old tutorial :) and so many things have changed since then. Keep in mind xp have always trouble in frame 0, so u could try change the xp mode from simulation(legacy) to the other modes.

I have a question. When I bake the connect object, by following every step mentioned like go to first frame, and in connect object remove weld, when the alembic bakes, it gives me all polygons facing in Z direction at frame 0 and not flat. Am I missing some step before baking the alembic? Using XParticles fused and Cinema 4d 2023 latest version. the xpgenerator gives an option of Duplicate instead of single clone.

Great tutorial, Thank you - Anyone has any tips on how to achieve a similar look with Redshift?

I totally agree! In advectino though, TFD cannot support some stuff that XP can, otherwise u know me :D

Oh many thanks! Its not the same as multithread materials right?

just because you are my favorite, I will share one quick tip :) Go to Octane Settings/Settings/Other and change Color GUI type to Cinema 4D Native. Hope this will significantly speed up your workflow. GREAT TUTORIAL cant wait for next one with the splines .

I want to go on the record in saying that I think that TFD is excellent for these simulations and anyone not understanding the reasons why should maybe look at a side by side comparison of the speeds/quality each one delivers.
