Follow up on DevLog v2.7 and Samples!
🕑 Added 2022-03-23 16:39:16 +0000 UTCFollows samples of how I would be making the rewrite for each and all passages of the game. I've made it the best as I could, and I didn't include a Third Person POV because it has been settled between me and Twizz that it would not work (neither of us have much experience on it).
It will be a laborious task, but I don’t think it will take that long. Would be using this downtime to better implement game mechanics and make Trash Hero feel more like an RPG. I have also been writing information about the setting that will be available inside the game in the future.
Things like religion, story about regions and anything to fully immerse the players in the setting. None of it will be mandatory to read, of course, but tomes and books regarding the history of the Fallen Crown will be scattered across the game for the player to collect and read whenever he wishes to.
A small hint regarding a key feature of our setting is present in these small samples uvu
Hope you enjoy! This is based around the first scene the player has with Allen inside the prison.
First Person - Sample
The ticking sound of the water droplets dripping from the cracked ceiling is starting to become nauseating. The rain and wind from the outside is slowly taking its toll in my weary bones, I can feel my body aching over this stupid cold stone floor. Are those… iron bars…?
Despite not wanting to open my eyes, the unknown room around me catches my interest. I can’t quite recall what happened last… I think… I think I was in the back of a wagon? This sharp ear ringing migraine won’t allow me to think straight…
“ I thought you were never going to wake up…. “ A sad but hopeful feminine voice calls me.
Katherine. It is hard for one to forget such a staggering woman, with her eye-catching snow white fur with black stripes across its well defined muscles sure makes its way into a man’s mind. Although the sight of her damp and matted fur wistfully remembers me of simpler times. Moments when all I had to worry about was to not get too drunk.
"How 's your head? You won’t take your hands off it.”
Her eyes seem tired and her clothes are all torn up. I wonder how long she’s been looking at the tiles on the floor.
“Could’ve been worse…”
Her imperative but delightfully smooth voice slowly brings me back to my senses. I recall what happened now... It is all because of that stupid mission she gave me, with Arthemis taking me prisoner after I defeated the great beast of the lake. What a shame… To succeed only to be humiliated by that devious little siamese cat.
And for what? For a deep blue orb? A forbidden artifact as he calls it. Bullocks I say. Now all that is left for me is a dingy colorless cell with a tigress that won’t stop looking at me. And my back hurts, for how long have I been at this cobblestone floor?
“It’s been three days since we got here, for a moment I thought you were dead!” Almost as if she could read my mind! At least she seems relieved. “I mean… Not that it could happen. Unless Arthemis had found a way to kick your soul out straight into the afterlife.”
“And what? You think I would have made it to the Dark Moon or the Bright one?”
“Don’t be stupid! You may be a perv and a drunkard, but those are no reason to be sent to the Dark Moon. You don’t deserve that kind of punishment.”
Second Person - Sample
The ticking sound of the water droplets dripping from the cracked ceiling is starting to make you feel nauseous. The rain and wind from the outside is slowly taking its toll on your weary bones, while your body lays on a cold stone floor as your blurry vision reveals iron bars in front of you.
Confusion strikes as you can’t quite remember what happened last. Curious about the poorly lit room arounds you, you reluctantly open your eyes while your ears ring from a terrible headache, not allowing you to think straight.
“ I thought you were never going to wake up… “ A sad but hopeful feminine voice calls you.
You turn your face towards the imperative but delightfully smooth voice, with your senses slowly coming back to you in sporadic flashes while you place your hand over your head. Katherine is her name, a staggering tall woman with eye-catching snow white fur with black stripes across her well defined muscles.
Such a vision sure makes its way into your mind, although the sight of her damp and matted fur wistfully reminds you of simpler times... Moments when all you had to worry about was not to get too drunk.
“How’s your head? You won’t take your hands off it.” She asks while sitting on the other side of the cell, her clothing torn up and her eyes tired like someone who’s been looking at the ground for a long time.
“Could’ve been worse…” You reply.
It was all because of that stupid mission Katherine gave you… Being taken prisoner by Arthemis after defeating the great beast of the lake… To succeed only to be humiliated by that devious little siamese cat. Ending up in this dingy colorless cell because of an unknown deep blue orb you obtained, a forbidden artifact as Arthemis called it. “And for what?” You think to yourself.
- It’s been three days sine we got here, for a moment I thought you were dead! - The tigress continues, sounding relieved and a bit happier than before. - I mean… Not that it could happen. Unless Arthemis had found a way to kick your soul out straight into the afterlife.
- And what? You think I would have made it to the Dark Moon or the Bright one? - You jokingly reply, thinking about the only two places a man’s soul could end up in.
- Don’t be stupid! You may be a perv and a drunkard, but those are no reasons to be sent to the Dark Moon. You don’t deserve that kind of punishment.
Please let me know what do you think of each version!
Story sections will receive a future rewrite (or a total rewrite depending on what POV you guys decide!). I'm leaning more towards the First Person POV, as I think it will better represent Allen as a Character.
The main idea regardless is to increase the overall quality of our game, as I don't want to leave some game sections "so-so" or half baked. A poll will be made tomorrow concerning what perspective you guys would rather see.
Please let me know what do you guys think of this idea, as future content would be more related to artworks and game mechanics. If you guys don't like this as much, I can scrap the idea and fix older sections another time.
But still expect a small downtime in story content (Updates for the game will still come) as I've been better defining the Universe and Game Mechanics so I can better implement characters and plot in the near future.
Thank you so much for your support ^^
Good luck out there adventurers! - RaccoonThings Team
