Ok but for real. You need to do an episode or two on this dude: John R. Brinkley. He is the radio "doctor" who help kick off the craze of goat testicle surgeries to cure impotence in the early 20th century. He became extremely rich off this, almost was Governor of Kansas, and launched early radio stars like the Carter family. The book "Charlatan" about this guy is one of the most fascinating things I have ever read. Also in the book is a blurb about what happened to Eugene debs with quack medicine.

i definitely feel the retention problem sometimes. i think its something to do with pacing and breadth, stuff like ex.haust with a slow episodic burn and more time to fixate on the particulars tends to stay with me. your fanjul brothers episode really stuck, and i remember it having that sort of vibe
