This version was performed in studio by an ad hoc group consisting of Hendrix, Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell, then-Jefferson Airplane bassist Jack Casady, and Steve Winwood of Traffic/Blind Faith. The shorter version covered by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Voodoo Child (Slight Return), was performed the following day by Hendrix, Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding.
