I think there are no guarantees without a back to back Yusho. That said, of Hoshoryu can get convincing wins with a 13-2+ record, he can go rope shopping.

Wow. I feel bad for Teru. I understand it would be ideal if the next Yokozuna could get promoted after beating a current Yokozuna, but with Teru struggling with this much pain, would it really matter?

Why is Jason so adamant that there won't be a new Yokozuna in March? Is it not true that if Hoshoryu wins the Basho he will become the new Yokozuna? I thought that was the consensus since he got 2nd last Basho with an excellent record. Would love more information if I'm wrong.

A great tournament for the Flying Monkey. Beating the Yokozuna and 2 Ozeki will be a big highlight in his career. Terunofuji looked much worse than in the training footage we had of him with Onosato.

Teru definitely not 100% at the moment, he’s not moving with quite the same oomph, and off the dohyo there he looked in pain. He should pull out and relax and see how he feels for the next one! If anyone has earned the right to pick and choose his battles it’s Terunofuji.
