Part 1
It is difficult for everyone to get the future they wanted.
Sometimes there is a future that the person cannot resist.
No matter how carefully you choose and act —— reality is harsh.
The school's second semester had begun, and it was already about halfway through.
Since morning, people dressed in suits and dresses, paying more attention to their appearance than usual —— had gathered at a temple, a religious facility in a certain territory, to celebrate.
Unfortunately, the weather is cloudy, but the people in the temple are smiling.
A young woman in a pure white wedding dress was seen in the midst of the large crowd.
Her name is [Marie Fou Lafan]. Today her voluminous hair is braided and neatly gathered.
Although she spent more time than usual on her makeup, her face is hidden behind a veil so that people around her cannot see it clearly.
Marie looks up at the stained glass windows through the veil.
The temple has a structure reminiscent of antebellum churches, but the stained glass windows depict the Saint who was involved in the founding of the Kingdom of Horfalt.
Like herself now, she wore a pure white dress, bracelets, a necklace, and carried a staff.
Marie looks up at the Saint, whose face is full of affection, but her expression is as clouded as the weather.
Normally, this should be a situation that makes one rejoice.
Only the weather is out of the control, but she is in the middle of a wedding that finally did not come true in her previous life.
For Marie, it was one of the dreams she had hoped to fulfill in this life —— to have the ceremony celebrated and witnessed by her and her partner's relatives in attendance.
However, Marie was in the worst mood.
(Life really is out of control, isn't it?)
She wanted to curse her own fate for having a wedding less than a year after entering the academy.
When she glanced around and saw her own family sitting on the couch, they looked quite happy and pleased.
Normally, the family does not seem to even recognize Marie as a member of the family, but on this occasion, they are all present.
They are quite excited, but not to celebrate their daughter who starting a new life.
Even though calling them family in this life is annoying, they had good reason to be there at Marie's wedding to celebrate.
Her father in this life —— Viscount Lafan is a slender man who seems too skinny.
This is probably due to the fact that he usually drinks a lot of alcohol and continues to lead an unhealthy lifestyle.
Even though it is the middle of a wedding ceremony, his face is strangely red because he has been drinking.
At the celebration, Viscount Lafan says what he really thinks in a rather loud voice.
"One useless youngest daughter sold for more than I thought she would. This will clear up our family's problems."
The plump woman sitting next to Viscount Rafan was dressed in what appeared to be newly purchased precious jewelry.
"She's really a very filial daughter to let our family's debt problems go away. If I had known this would happen, I would have loved her a little more."
This wedding, however, is not what Marie wanted.
Marie was sold by her family to marry someone she did not want to.
Marie looks down and instead of lamenting her misfortune —— she is angry with her family in this life.
(These guys are absolutely unforgivable!)
Gritting her back teeth, the groom walks up to Marie, who is trembling with anger.
Seeing such a groom, Marie said bad things about him in her mind.
(Why does this guy look dissatisfied? I'm the one who's dissatisfied!!)
The groom let out a deliberate sigh at the sight of Marie and did not hide his disgust.
When he walks up to her, he stands at Marie's side, looking overtly unhappy.
The unhealthy-looking fat groom is over 30 years old.
He blatantly doesn't want to be at the wedding, and he doesn't want to mend things.
He wears very expensive-looking clothes, but he doesn't seem to have any sense of dignity.
The groom takes his eyes off Marie, keeping her out of sight —— and even starts complaining.
"Why should I marry such a chick? I prefer more glamorous woman. It's not like what I wanted at all."
In addition to his rude behavior, this remark made Marie's gut churn.
(Your family proposed this marriageeee!)
Marie has a previous life, but in terms of physical age, she is sixteen years old.
However, in this world, they are recognized as adults and can even get married.
But for Marie, it is a situation in which she is deprived of the joy of her student life and forced to marry into the family of a man she does not like.
After all, if she married, she would have to leave the academy.
Marie never expected her own marriage to be the result of being sold out by her family.
It was not a very satisfying marriage.
(You've got to be kidding me! Why do I have to get married in that otome game world —— where there are no dreams and no hope for me? I should be with —— someone I love——)
Ever since she was reincarnated in that otome game world, Marie has been struggling.
She has been honing her skills in healing magic, hoping and dreaming that she will eventually attend the academy.
The result was a shock, though, when she was told that she had sacrificed her physical growth.
However, she has not told her family that she can use healing magic.
Because if her family who sold her out knew about it, they would surely take advantage of it.
Marie does not trust her family.
Compared to her family in her previous life, these people were truly awful.
After all, they sold Marie to a rich man's house in exchange for writing off their ballooning debt.
(Do you have any idea how hard I have been struggling!? I finally made it to the academy and was having a good time, even if it wasn't exactly as planned!)
In her previous life, Shinto priest —— the priestess, stands before them with a golden necklace, bracelets, and staff, smiling at them.
The reason she didn't raise any eyebrows at the groom's attitude is probably because she was provided with that much reward.
"It is a blessing that the two families can be united on this good day. It is probably thanks to the blessings of the Saint. Now then, let the wedding ceremony begin"
The groom looks like he wants it to end quickly.
"Just finish it quickly."
It seems that he is not interested in this marriage from the beginning.
After all, this wedding was not what the groom wanted either.
In other words, the connection between the houses —— their will didn't matter.
The groom's family was treated as an upstart, and they wanted the blood of the noble family —— not Marie herself.
The reason why they resorted to such a brute-forced method is because the groom's family has a special way of being established.
They are either hated by other nobles or only taken advantage of.
Therefore, no nobles wanted to be associated with the groom's family.
Because it was such a family, they desperately wanted noble blood.
So it didn't have to be Marie.
——Just anyone with noble blood.
The priest's cheeks twitched slightly at the groom's attitude, but she kept smiling, perhaps thinking of the amount of money she had received.
"Yes, let's end this quickly. I'm sure the young people will be bored with a long talk."
The priests are concerned only with the disgruntled groom, and leave Marie's condition to a single glance.
Even though Marie doesn't seem to want to get married, there is not the slightest pretense of sympathy for her.
This is normal.
A marriage in which the protagonist is united after a great love encounter in that otome game, and the bride and groom love each other with the blessings of those around them —— that is a dream beyond dreams.
(It's a really tough world, isn't it? If it's that otome game world, you should be a little nicer to me. I can't believe I have to marry this guy in the first place.)
You can get a general idea of the groom's personality by looking at him.
He must have been born in a rich family and live a life without any inconvenience.
He is a man who knows no hardships and grew up selfish.
What happens if she marries someone like this?
Marie can easily predict it.
Surely a loveless marriage awaits her.
Once the child is born, there is a high possibility that she will be treated coldly, as if her role in is over.
(I failed in my previous life, so I decided to do my best this time —— I was determined to be happy in my second life, but it is really the worst!)
I didn't work hard for a future like this! ——That thought brings tears of frustration to Marie's eyes.
But there's nothing she can do about it.
No matter how hard Marie tries, she can't reverse this situation.
In the face of harsh reality, Marie fantasizes about someone coming to her rescue as if to escape from reality.
Suddenly, the face of her big brother from her previous life comes to mind.
(Haha, I can't believe aniki's face comes to mind even at a time like this)
Marie scoffs to herself in her heart, but she feels that her big brother can do something about it.
Looking back on it now, he was extremely dependable.
(Help me, aniki —— onii-chan, help me)
While she usually calls him "aniki," but only when she wants to be spoiled, she calls him onii-chan.
In her mind, she mutters for help to her brother, and then Marie —— 'How did this happen?' and recalls what has happened so far.
