First Stage: Reincarnated as a Ninja

Part 2
"Congratulations. Your another world transfer privilege is a ninja." Who wouldn't retort when presented with it? No, there wouldn't.
That's why I said, "Why ninja?" and the goddess got mad at me.
"That's a matter of course! Because ninjas are the coolest thing ever! And you are from Mie Prefecture! How can you not admire ninjas! Mie is the home of the ninja!"
That seems to be the case.
No, to begin with, Mie Prefecture is not a city built solely based on ninja.
"Listen? I love Mie, not only as the goddess in charge of Mie Prefecture, but also personally. It has a lot of history, many local specialties, and ninjas."
"Ninja is a creation, though"
Well, maybe she's right about the history. There are a lot of places of interest.
Still, it's a minor for some reason.
"There, shut up. Anyway, it is a city of romance with many ninja legends. But you Mie people are either carefree, lacking in greed, or lacking in pride. History doesn't appeal, people say it's not a particularly important city, and specialty products are taken by Aichi and Nagoya. I mean, Nagoya is finally showing off its own ninjas!"
This goddess, no matter how much she's in charge, her love for Mie is heavy. Even I, a Mie resident, think she's a little too eccentric.
And what is this bizarre hate for Aichi and Nagoya?
"Ano, why do you hate Nagoya so much?"
Nagoya is nice.
"Of course it is! That evil goddess in charge of Aichi Prefecture says it's more appealing if we use it ourselves! How could we allow that!"
A goddess in charge of Aichi Prefecture, huh... Rather, I wonder if the goddesses have such a quarrel with each other.
Not really, that's all that matters. I don't care where it's advertised.
However, the goddess seems to find this unforgivable and has been lecturing me for nearly an hour on this topic.
That's not that I dislike ninjas. I used to play ninja when I was a child.
Ah, it's nostalgic to remember. I studied as my parents told me to, but I remember playing like that with my friends at school. We didn't show it to each other, but the favorite game was playing ninja.
I was a little happy when I saw a ninja in a period drama.
"First of all, if you are from Mie, the home of the ninja, you should understand a little more about the meaning of your name."
As I was reminiscing about my childhood, the Goddess said to me.
"My name?"
The second time I've introduced myself, my name is Kido Otowa.
I used to be teased for having a name like "Otowa," which sounds like a girl's name.
"Haaaa..."
She gave a huge sigh.
I know it's an unusual name, but what does it have to do with ninjas?
"Lis~ten? The name Kido in ninja is Kido Yazaemon. He was a sniper ninja who sniped Nobunaga Oda?"
"You say that as if it were obvious, but I don't know."
I wonder if he was in the history books?
Unfortunately, I'm not that familiar with history.
"Otowa is also an alias of Kido Yazaemon, or "Kido of Otowa," and the name of the ninja he served, Otowa Hanroku?"
"He~eh, that's great! But I don't know!"
Because ninja are like, Hattori Hanzo, Sarutobi Sasuke or Kirigakure Saizo, right?
If you ask me about other ninjas... Matsuo Basho?
"By the way, is it true that the name of the ninja who shot at Nobunaga Oda is the same as my name? Am I actually a descendant of one of them or something?"
"Ah, that's wrong. It has nothing at all to do with the bloodline. It is a coincidence. It's just that the name fits. Also, because you were doing something kind of ninja-like."
"...Haa?"
Ninja-like?
What was I doing before I died? I was just an ordinary businessman?
"Etto, you seem to have a messed up memory."
The goddess unfolds a scroll from wherever she took it.
"There it is, there it is. Well, your cause of death, you were climbing a tree and slipped and fell to the ground. Yes. You were drunk and fell out of a tree."
"……Yes?"
What is that, a very embarrassing cause of death.
"No, wait... Ah, I remembered something..."
Yes, I was at a cherry-blossom viewing party, and I had to go along with my boss's reckless behavior...
For 29 years, I thought I had been taking everything around me seriously, but I never thought I would meet such a stupid end....... Come to think of it, that's why my head was so foggy when I woke up in this space....... How silly of me.
"It's no good~ You have to say clearly what you don't like."
I can't argue back. She is absolutely right. It's a good argument. But it's the company that can't get away with it.
But this is hilarious. This is what I get for listening to people around me ...... Pathetic, me.
If you say you want freedom and then move away from it yourself, it's not worth talking about.
"B-u-t I saw one possibility in your actions."
The goddess continues to talk as if she doesn't care about my depression.
Whatever it is, it's amazing how much potential you see in a drinking mistake.
"Drinking is something that stirs up your instincts. And you imitated a ninja. That means you have a ninja spirit inside of you!"
What is the Ninja Spirit? If I get drunk, I will be a ninja.
"Stop that irrational argument. It's extremely embarrassing."
It's so embarrassing to see a drunken middle-aged man playing ninja!
"But unfortunately. You're dead. Because you weren't a ninja. If you were a ninja, you wouldn't be dead. I rather applaud you."
Sorry to interrupt all the ninja talk, but my heart is about to be shattered.
"Anyway, time is running out! You are a ninja and you are going down to another world! Go now, to prove that the ninja from Mie Prefecture are the strongest! To reveal the nose of that evil goddess! To satisfy my ninja fantasy! "
Oi, there was some kind of personal greed mixed in around the end.
And just as he was about to butt in, the goddess tugged at the rope that had been hanging down for some time.
"Eh?"
Then the place where I was sitting on the floor opens up.
Is this space a ninja mansion?!
"UOOOOOH ?!"
"If you have any questions, please read the scroll~"
And I fall into the darkness.
