Part 1
"That's why you Mie people are getting Nagoya people's specialties! Be more greedy, greedy!"
When I woke up, suddenly, I was being lectured by a beautiful black-haired ponytail girl in a sleeveless mini-skirt who was sitting on her haunches and calling herself a goddess.
Kido Otowa, 29 years old. From Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture. That's me. Since I am not 30, I still consider myself not an old man.
That aside, you may wonder what this girl is talking about all of a sudden, but it seems that I have died.
(...What the hell, my head is so fuzzy... I died, didn't I?)
I don't remember how I died, my memory is fuzzy, but when I woke up, I was sitting on the floor in a place where one tatami mat floated in a pure white space.
Then the ponytail goddess said, "You are dead," so it seems I died.
When I die, my soul is supposed to be taken to heaven, but the goddess caught me before that, and that's why I'm here now.
"Tenmusu, Hitsumabushi and Misokatsu all originated in Mie Prefecture, but because Mie people are so laid-back and don't do a good job of appealing to the public, they've turned everything into a Nagoya specialty! They're even calling Tonteki a Nagoya specialty these days! As long as I alive, the goddess in charge of Mie Prefecture, I will defend Tonteki!"
Aside from the reason why I died, I was somehow favored by the goddess of the gods and was granted a special reincarnation into another world.
Whatever it is, apparently she likes the name.
And it came with a privilege. I can understand this kind of development, but I never thought it would happen to me.
But. Although I was the one who had received such an explanation from the goddess, I was a bit stumped by the details of the privilege that was offered to me.
No, I don't think it's bad news.
However, it was a very biased or, how should I say it, a very Goddess-like privilege, full of her own interests.
When I went further into it, it seemed to be a bad idea, and it started with the recent lack of motivation among the Japanese, and somehow it has now become a Nagoya disservice.
"No, I understand what you're saying, but..."
Well, I have heard that most of Nagoya's specialties did not originate in Nagoya, but even if you tell me that, I am troubled, or rather, you should ask the governor or the mayor to tell me that kind of thing.
Or you should ask a tourism appeal ambassador or something?
"Or rather, what did you mean when you said earlier that you were the goddess in charge of Mie Prefecture?"
Don't tell me there are forty-six more goddesses like her?
That's kind of noisy when I think about it.
"There are various gods in Mie prefecture, but... No way, you are Amate..."
An important landmark in Mie Prefecture, which is located in a relatively minor part of the 47 prefectures, is, yes, the Ise Jingu Shrine.
Speaking of the god enshrined there, guess what?
But as if to cut me off, the goddess held up her hand and shook her head.
"No, you' re wrong. Don't be so awe-struck that I am with Amaterasu. That person is the god of all Japan. I am that, in Western terms, I am an angel, angel. I'm technically a goddess. I am in charge of Mie Prefecture."
What a confusing organization structure.
Even if I listen to her, it seems I won't understand it, so I'll just ignore it.
"As you can see, each of Japan's 47 prefectures has its own goddess. Okinawa is a man, but that's no matter. Anyway! This is your another world reincarnation privilege! It's the only one I'll accept! That's good! "
Then the goddess pushes a scroll from a period drama or something at me.
It feels like plain paper to the touch.
"I'll take it if I can get it, but is this really going to be useful?"
"Don't worry about that. It's possible to do just about anything a human being can imagine. I mean, you have to be able to do this. What are you talking about?"
"No, but... this is..."
I unfolded the scroll I had received. There, written in a masterful handwriting, was the text that would be my privilege.
Benefit #1, physical enhancement. This one is simple.
Benefit #2, divine power. Incidentally, the word "magic" is written in parentheses right next to it. This is also simple and easy to understand.
Both have the word "Toku" circled by a circle symbol. According to the goddess, this means "extra special. In other words, S rank, EX rank", or something like that.
This part is still good. If I say it's a promise, that's all there is to it.
But the problem is from here.
There is a column called "Technical Skills". Again, it was written in parentheses as skills.
Quite a lot is listed.
"Etto, the first is... Bunshin*" (clone)
"It's essential. It would be rather strange if you couldn't."
"Well, Mizukumo*?" (ninja water-walking shoes)
"It's also basic. You can walk on water. Well, using your divine powers, you can do anything, but just in case?"
"Utsusemi*" (Cast Off Cicada Shell, exchange oneself with an object)
"It's cool when you use it to avoid enemy attacks. It's not the same as Body Replacement, you know?"
"... Shadow Stitching*" (It is a technique of throwing a shuriken or other object at the shadow of an enemy, which renders the shadow immobile, which in turn renders the main body of the enemy immobile)
"You can stop the enemy's movement. Like this, with a swoosh."
"You skipped a lot of stuff... The last, Five Elements"
"If you can't use all the attributes, then what's the point!"
Now, after all this, you already know what I'm talking about, right.
"This is Ninja"
That's right. The privilege given to me is truly "Ninja"!
