How much of this is opinion and what is backed up by science? We looked into it and it turns out social media isn't quite as bad as they say it is.

Thanks for pointing out. I actually use the singular in the video, so I'll change that to a singular on the thumbnail as well. I asked Google and it says either way is fine, and I was thinking, well, I guess the singular is "medium", but yeah, it does sound odd.
Either one works, depending on whether we're considering social media as a collection of separate platforms or as a conglomeration of ways to communicate and share files.
I hate to be the one say this, but my first thought was "is" instead of "are" for how to complete "How bad _ social media?" It just feels more natural to me to say something like "How bad is news radio?" and "how bad are news radio stations?" So you could say "How bad are social media platforms?"
