Happy Friday! You're welcome. There is a lot of information out there.

Thanks for reference, I hadn't seen that.

More detail about the state of wildlife population can be found here: https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.1711842115 The fact that human biomass is so much greater than that of all wild mammals indicates a huge systemic problem. Wildlife population declines have been seen for decades as human encroachment and appropriation of their habitat would no other effect than to force their decline globally. Sure, some wildlife, such as white tail deer, seem to do well alongside humans, but that itself is an indicator of a systemic imbalance. There is no region that has the biodiversity at the population levels today as they did 50 years ago. For example, there were an estimated 30 million bison on the American plains before being slaughtered in the 1800s in a federal government effort to wipe out the plains Indians, leaving a few hundred. Today, there is an estimated 500,000. So, while the population has grown from its low of around ~325 that is not an indication of a healthy ecosystem. Any small rebounds such as this, due to recovery efforts, also do not indicate anything positive as human population stresses every ecosystem in existence.

"... we are dealing with a mathematical speculation that has no connection to observation. It’s for all practical purposes untestable." Oh, this just *hurts*.

"Spending the money on something more useful." Always stating the obvious, which is a good thing because this is something world leaders consistently miss. A possible silver lining? In 5-10 years, many new politicians will be young people who have been influenced by the movement started by Greta Thunberg.

Strewth. The book is a different sort of mental work-out, quite enjoyable. I started reading it, took a break then finished it. I did the same with 'Lost in Math', don't know why.

The book arrived about a month ago for me. However, I have been buried at work, doing 6 months of (programming) work in about 2 months. So reading it before the end of the year is now doable.

Global Soup Network, or the Global Climate Crisis.

I'm a bit worried about the market collapsing though.

Now you're all set up for the quantum internet.

And, I've just gotten an ad post for an 'Quantum AI - Trading Systems' app in YouTube. 🙃

I'm having a little Sabine-Fest over here; I finished reading 'Existential Physics' a few minutes before this video came out. I've gone from being challenged and moved to chortling about black-hole bodily functions. 😆
