Aren't Hypotheses supposed to be testable? Do theoreticians have any intention to ultimately test their ideas? It seems that if they do not have a concrete idea as to how to test them, then the idea should be categorized as "not ready for release", unsupported, unsubstantiated because the general public considers such ideas "scientific" and when proven unsubstantiated, unsupported, the public claims that science is broken and that leads to big social problems, such as what happened when doctors, epidemiologists and other medical professionals left their lane about the SARS-CoV-2 virus in specific and vaccines in general. It seems that theoreticians should really know better, there is no evidence of any other worlds nor parallel universes, so let people know that and work for verification and when you fail that, let people know and drop it.

On a more serious note and to Tracey’s point above, funding for theorists is peanuts compared to say the next LHC. On the other hand, I sure am glad NASA took the $9 bn risk with the JWST. Maybe it can throw some shade on ΛCDM.
