Trans athletes in sports: Is this fair?

There are people who have hit the jackpot in the "genetic lottery". People who conquer the catwalk or the silver screen because they are universally appreciated as "beautiful". Jockeys who win every derby because of their (small) size and sense of balance. Boxers who often emerge victorious because of an optimal body center of gravity and better arm reach. In my youth, I was on the track and field A squad of middle distance runners in Germany (46.03 seconds over the quarter mile, if anyone wants to know). At a time when anti-doping legislation was not yet very developed, I was privileged to meet an athlete, Jarmila Kratochvílová, as a particularly warm-hearted, cheerful and helpful person. Her world record in the 800m is, as far as I know, still valid today. In addition to doping allegations, about the truth of which I cannot say anything, she was also accused of participating in the women's competitions as a "disguised" man. That was bad for everyone involved. Embarrassing for the athlete. Intolerable for their sponsors. Annoying for the coaches. The female athletes who competed with Jarmila wouldn't have thought of their own accord to go after her behind her back. Most of the time it came from the so-called officials (who needs them?!) and the specific sports federation. If we introduce separate categories for trans athletes, there will be similar effects as for handicapped athletes. I have the utmost respect for the achievements of the participants in the Para and Special Olympics. In fact, I couldn't name any of the gold medal winners in a particular discipline right off the bat. And that's not because of the lack of coverage, but rather because of the many different classes and classifications. I share Sabine's view that we are moving with rapid steps towards the end of "professional" sport.

Hi Colleen, I am no longer doing interviews for my channel.

@Sabine Could you please interview Joanna Harper or another transgender researcher and/or advocate? That would be awesome! I know that might be a big ask, but please? *begs like an annoying child*
