Hi Jeffery, I was interested in your question when you first posted it, and I read the paper that you cite - thanks for sharing that. If I read the paper correctly, not all identical particles are indistinguishable; these are not synonyms. Identical particles only become indistinguishable when their wave functions overlap. In that case, the symmetrization postulate imposes rules on the combined state of the system. How have you determined that the "smoke and ashes" contain indistinguishable particles that all have overlapping wave functions? This is the crux of the issue for me. Have you watched Sabine's earlier videos on black hole information loss? I have not put any thought into your homeopathy statement, but it is an interesting question as well. None of this is in my wheelhouse, so I could be completely off base here.

OK, I'm trying again. don't be mad, I really want to understand this and I have no one else to turn to. I was taught in my physics classes that all particles of any given type are identical to, indistinguishable from, one another, see "Indistinguishable particles in quantum mechanics: an introduction" (http://www.phys.lsu.edu/faculty/jdowling/PHYS4141-SP13/Omar07.pdf). Therefore, there is no macro information in the "smoke and ashes", the constituent quantum particles, as those particles are "indistinguishable". While certain "reversals" can be made at the macro level, such as broken fragments of a fossilized bone can be put together to recreate its original configuration as a result of them fitting together in only one way, there is no information in indistinguishable particles that would allow a macro object to be reconstructed from its "ashes". Therefore, the math that argues that indistinguishable particles contain information of their placement in a macro object appears to be an invalid extension from quantum mechanics, which, to me, begs the issue as to whether it is valid to question whether there actually is a black hole paradox at all. From reading first chapter of "A Philosophical Approach to MOND: Assessing the Milgromian Research Program in Cosmology" I am prone to think not. As an aside, the concept that quantum particles retain information of their macro history implies that homeopathy's claim that the "law of infinitesimals" is true. Where is the flaw in my logic?

Also, if you search through Sabine's blog, http://backreaction.blogspot.com/, you may find more information on the topic. If I recall correctly, LHC black holes were her PhD topic. I think that we would need a larger collider to produce the energy needed to make micro black holes, but don't quote me on that.

Couldn't we theoretically create microscopic black holes in a particle accelerator and verify that they decay as predicted? Wasn't that one of the worries when CERN was first brought online? Now, I don't buy into the idea that they'd doom the world, but it might be a line of research worth pursuing, as how else are we supposed to find testable small black holes with detectable radiation?
