Hi Sabine, Thank you for a beautifully clear and nicely specific explanation of the physical meaning of phrase "quantum erasure experiment." I realized after watching your video that I hadn't several misconceptions about what people are trying to do with this experiment. I especially liked your clarification on the common misperception -- one the Feynman Lectures show correctly but don't explain -- that the particle becomes "bullet-like" after the slit whichway information becomes classical. As you explained, the prediction pattern for the next classical finding of the photon or electron (or any entity) becomes asymptomatically closer to a smooth, equal-probability-distribution hemispherical wave front as the specificity of its found location at the slit becomes more point-like. That is the exact opposite of bullet-like! A question for you: Based on your explanation, shouldn't the quantum eraser experiment be renamed the quantum predestinator experiment? If you set up a random choice at the far detector of the experiment, then doesn't seeing a distinctive whichway pattern one nanosecond after a photon is launched in the near detector guarantee that when the recorded results of the experiment are examined, it will be found that the nominally 1-second-later-in-time random choice of the far sensor 1 second away was predetermined by the pattern observed in the first nanosecond? That, to me, sounds far more like a predestinator than an eraser. If so, I think your explanation captures the deeper nature of this experiment far better than calling it "erasure."
